~ Yeonjun's POV ~
Driving used to be a very stressful thing for me, but nowadays, I love it. It gives me a bit more freedom, and I don't have to rely on others to be transported.
Yesterday, we got the news that our driver, who has been with us since debut, has fallen ill, and he will most likely retire. We all visited him in the hospital, and wished him a speedy recovery. The company was immediately looking for a new driver, but I had an idea:
- I mean, I have my license. Why couldn't I drive us? Then you don't have to hire a complete stranger. – I told our manager my idea on our next meeting.
- Absolutely no chance of that happening, Yeonjun. A driver, especially when they are driving famous people, needs to have certain skills, and pass multiple tests. We are in contact with an agency already, so it's a matter of days only.
- But until then?
- Another group's driver agreed to drive you guys too.
I looked at him with defeat, but ultimately, his reasoning made sense. We are not ordinary people after all, we can't just go out on our own. The others must've felt my disappointment, because the next few days, they were asking me to drive them to places a lot more. Now, Beomgyu tasked me to fetch him a package he ordered, from a near gas station. We never order anything to our home address, but instead use a package delivery point.
- Thank you, hyungie, I'm so happy you are able to help me! – That statement made me smile the whole time there, so much so, that I didn't even notice that I wasn't really alone.
While the others were trying to help me, we have made one huge mistake: we didn't notify management of these little trips, so we didn't have bodyguards with us. So, whenever I drove one of my members somewhere, we put ourselves in harms way, but we never had any problems. Until now.
As I was approaching the gas station, I looked in the rear-view mirror, and noticed a big black van following me. It was dangerously close to my car, so I tried speeding a bit, hoping to gain some space between us.
It sped up too.
- Aish, leave me alone. – I mumbled, as I tried to get the plate number. I didn't feel good about this situation, and I tried to make myself feel a bit safer. I decided to open my Notes app, and type the information in.
I was not looking at the road. That's when I heard someone braking frantically behind me.
When I looked up, all I could see was the metal post at the side of the road.
Then the world ceased to exist for me.
~ Beomgyu's POV ~
- Guys, did Yeonjun-hyung already return? It has been an hour, and the gas station in 15 minutes away. – The others shook their heads, looking back at me with worry.
- Have you tried calling him? – Hyuka asked.
- Of course, but it goes to voicemail every time.
- Does he have his app turned on? – Soobin made us all download an app, where we had our location shared 24/7. It gave him some peace of mind, but Yeonjun was against the idea.
- Didn't he say he deleted it, he was afraid someone would hack into his phone, and see where we are? – Taehyun chimed in.
- Really? I could've sworn I saw his icon on there yesterday. – Soobin frowned, and got his phone out. – No, I see him. Apparently, he's staying near the gas station, maybe he wanted to get some stuff.
- For 30 minutes? I don't know, hyung, I don't feel right about this. – I was not convinced. – I think I will call our driver, and see what's going on.
- Are you sure? – Taehyun asked. I nodded, and sent a text to the driver. He was there in less than 5 minutes.
~ Yeonjun's POV ~
Everything was still very much black around me, but my senses were returning to me, one by one.
First, my smell: I smelled something metallic around me, also, the smell of gasoline, which gave a horrible headache.
Then, my hearing: people talking, shouting, and calling my name. Huh, weird. Maybe they were fans.
My taste: I tasted nothing, but metal in my mouth. What could I have eaten today, that was so metallic?
My sight: I tried to focus my eyes, but it was hard, because of the headache, and also, my eyes were coated in something red, and everything was a bit blurry. But I could make out clouds, and people's heads over me.
And lastly, my touch: before I could even feel anything, the whole body was shocked with pain. I felt an agonizing wave of pain all over my body, but it didn't pass in my back, my head, and my neck - I felt like they were getting crushed.
I tried yelling, or screaming for help, but I couldn't even make a sound. I tried waving to some of the people, but my arms remained unmoving. Soon enough, I couldn't even open my eyes, and I felt incredibly tired. That's when I heard a voice next to me.
- He's awake! Don't fall asleep, buddy, help is on the way. Stay with me now. What's your name? – His voice was low and comforting. I tried looking at him, but all my energy was used up at that point. So, I just sighed, but had to stop that too: my lungs felt like they were getting pierced.
- It's okay, don't tire yourself out. Do you know what happened? – I couldn't react, I was just trying to take small breaths, so my lungs wouldn't hurt again.
- You were in a car accident, son. You drove straight to a pole, it looked awful. Your car is totaled, but at least you're alive. – Oh my god, the pole. I started remembering, wanting to write something down, and not paying attention to the road. I finally opened my eyes, and was finally successful: a young man, dressed in in an orange and black jacket and a mask, looked back at me.
- OH MY GOD, IS THAT HIM?? YEONJUN? – A loud scream was heard, and I had to close my eyes again, as my headache was back.
- Sir, sir, please step back. Do you know him? – The man asked.
- Yes, I do! He's my best friend! What the fuck happened? – It was Beomgyu, goddmanit. I wanted to look at him, but I was unable to move my neck.
- Sir, do you know a... Choi Beomgyu? – The paramedic turned to me, holding Gyu's ID. I couldn't speak, still, but gave him a small nod. I never wanted Gyu to see me this way.
- Yeonjun, what the hell happened? – Someone took my hand, so I knew, they let Beomgyu next to me.
- He was in a serious car accident, so as soon as we stabilize him, we will take him to the nearest hospital.
- Oh my god, I can't believe this... - Their voice was slowly washed away, and I felt like something was pulling me down to the earth's core. So I let it. I was in too much pain to fight it.
