~ Yoongi's POV ~I miss the days, where I was able to let go of responsibilities. When I was able to put my head on my pillow, and fall asleep in minutes.
But now, sleep seems like an inconvenience. I wish I could go on without sleep or rest.
Such a waste of time.
The reason behind this is, that year-end awards shows are coming up in a few days, and they are a bigger deal than other shows. We, as a group have a 40-minute performance, then I have a duet with Hoseok, then a 10-minute solo stage.
One after the other.
Basically, I will be onstage for an hour, barely any time for quick-changes. And, as if that's not enough, our new album is coming up soon, so we need to rehearse, shoot photos and videos, record, and promote.
I couldn't keep track of all of our schedules, I trusted the managers to do that.
Today, after two interviews, a vocal lesson, a three-hour rehearsal and a midnight photo shoot, I barely had any energy to even walk upstairs to my room. I fell asleep while changing into my pyjamas, standing up.
Oh, god. How will I make it through the week?
~ 3-day time skip ~
Today was the worst of them all: the award show. I practiced and practiced and practiced last night, until I fell asleep on the studio floor, where the others found me in the morning. My neck and shoulders were aching from the hardwood floor, but it was entirely my fault.
- BTS on standby, enter stage in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
Hobi basically had to drag me onstage, as I almost fell asleep during the countdown. I shook myself up a bit, and started the routine with the others.
It was a special stage, so we prepared a special performance. It was an elegant piece, with parts from Black Swan, BS&T, Fake Love, and finishing with Dionysus. It was truly a masterpiece, and everyone who was watching, was in awe.
After we finished, me and Hobi hurried off stage, where we had a minute to change. I don't know how, but we got ready just in time, and we started performing our duet. It was a fun, entertaining performance, with upbeat songs.
I tried to stay happy and cheerful during it, but I felt my body running out of energy. No surprise there, I haven't been able to sleep more than 3 hours a day for the past week. Only drank during the breaks in the dance practices, and ate almost nothing.
I was at my absolute limits. I didn't have much more to offer.
Somehow I made it through the performance, again, so I left the stage in a run, and almost fell off the stairs. a makeup artist and a costume designer were waiting for me, and helped me change.
- You got this, Yoongi. - Hobi walked past me, assisted by a staff member. He gave his all on stage today, he was utterly exhausted.
But so was I. Yet, I needed to perform for another 10 minutes.
- And, showtime! Good luck, Suga! - A manager practically pushed me on stage, and the music began almost immediately. I got to assemble the playlist, which had parts of Interlude:Shadow, Seesaw, Daechwita, and People on it. I was proud of how it sounded, and on a better day, I would've killed it on stage.
But today, I was barely hearing the music, the stage was blurry before me, the crowd was too loud, and the stage lights were making me too hot. I tried my best not to show my immense discomfort, but I was unsuccesful.
There was only one thing in my mind: don't faint on stage.
So, when I felt like I couldn't stand up anymore, I did the one thing I felt was right: turned around and ran off stage.
As soon as I stepped off the last step, leading off the stage, I allowed my body to relax.
I collapsed onto the ground, my knees and head hitting the stone floor pretty hard. My breathing and heart rate picked up, and I closed my eyes. I just wanted to sleep.
- Yoongi, what are you doing? - A manager ran up to me, and kneeled down next to me. - What is going on with you?
- I'm so tired, please... - That's all I manages to say, I was too weak to communicate. I placed a hand to my chest, trying to slow my breathing. It was all too painful. I squeezed my eyes together, in an effort to fall asleep.
And he understood. He yelled at the show producers to get the next act, as I wasn't in any shape to perform. He then lifted me, wrapping one if his arms around my back, and the other under my knees. I felt the smell of his perfume, it reminded me of older times.
He placed me onto something soft, and covered me with a blanket. He then wiped the sweat off my forehead, and closed the door.
I opened my eyes a bit: I was at...
home?
- How...? - I muttered.
- Ah, hyung. FInally, you're awake, how are you? - Namjoon stood up from a chair on the other side of the room. I was incredibly confused.
- How am I home? I was just at the show...
- That was yesterday, hyung. Right after you came off stage, you passed out, so they brought you home. You have been sleeping here for almost a whole day. You must've been so exhausted...
I could not believe my ears. It truly felt like I was just backstage...
The mind is a curious thing...
~ 2-days time skip ~
I finally felt well enough to go back to the agency. The staff and management were very happy to see me, and they were eager to know what happened.
I wish I could give them a straight answer, but even I was unsure.
But Namjoon was right, I truly slept through a whole day. My body was so exhausted, I couldn't believe how far I've pushed myself.
I love working, I love my job.
But this - nothing is worth hurting my body over. I promise myself to take breaks, and listen to my own body.
