~ Taehyun's POV ~
Lately, I've been feeling rather under the weather, and more stressed than usual. I spoke with the company and counselors, and they proposed, that I start a sport as a hobby. So, I took up running.
At first, I only went in the mornings, and noticed the effects immediately. I was more motivated, focused and happier than before. That's why I go running every morning and evening as well: if we have the day off, I even go in the afternoon. And I feel awesome.
The only thing is, that I now know almost every street in the neighborhood, and I want to see new houses, I want a change of scenery. So, I was very excited, when I stumbled upon an alleyway during my evening run. It looked sketchy and dirty, but a quick look couldn't hurt, right?
I slowed down, and entered the narrow street. There were no street lamps, so I had to use my phone's flashlight. It wasn't a long street, but the vibes were definitely off.
- Ah, maybe I shouldn't... - I mumbled to myself, and turned around. That's when I noticed three dark figures behind me. They were looking right at me. This didn't look good.
- Excuse me. – I apologized quickly, and got out of their way. But they blocked the whole way out. I stepped back, slightly panicked. – I'm sorry, could you please let me out? – I was getting freaked out, I didn't want trouble.
- Sorry, not today. Empty your pockets really quickly. – The middle one demanded. My worst fear was coming true, I was getting robbed. I took a deep breath, and remembered my manager's words: "Nothing is more important than your health and life. Give them everything, it's not worth it." So, I did. I handed over my headphones with my iPod, my wallet, and my credit card. They nodded in approval.
- This is all I have... - I whispered, while hiding my phone in my back pocket.
- Do you really think we're that stupid? Where the fuck is you phone? – He took a big step towards me, and I backed away. But then, my back hit the wall: I was surrounded.
- I... I don't have it... I left it at home... - My voice was trembling, and so was I. I hoped he would believe me.
- Oh, fuck you. All of you rich people think we're dumb. Well, we're not. Give it to me, or else. – He took his hand out of his pocket, and I saw something metallic in his hand. A knife.
- Really, I don't have it! – I was now yelling, which was probably the worst thing I could've done. He winced at the sudden volume, but reacted: he quickly put his hand over my mouth, in order to silence me. His hand was reeking with cigarette smoke.
- Shut your mouth. Guys, grab him. – The two others were already behind me, they grabbed my hands and elbows, so now I truly had to chance of fighting back. He gave me a smirk, and took a few steps back.
- Next time, maybe you'll learn how to be honest, and not to lie to big boys. Here's your lesson. – He then swung his hand, with the knife in it.
The next thing I felt, was an awful burning feeling in my chest. I gasped, and wanted to hold my wound – but my hands were still restricted. I felt something warm wetting my hoodie, and I felt all of my energy and strength leaving my body. All the while, I was in horrendous pain.
- Not so eager to lie now, huh? Fucking bitch. Let's go. – They finally let me go, and I immediately collapsed onto the ground, holding my chest, and gasping for air. I felt the world slowly disappearing around me, and it took me everything, not to fall unconscious. From the corner of my eyes, I saw the men leaving, so I quickly got my phone out, and tried dialing the ambulance.
To my dismay, the screen was broken, and I couldn't actually dial anyone. So, I called the next best thing: Yeonjun hyung. His phone was ringing for a while, and then it went to voicemail.
