Chapter 17

Carter's POV

I wake up to the alarm that is ringing in the whole pack house, and I instantly know that we're under an attack.

I quickly stand up, wearing only shorts, and I look Timmy who is already awake.

I rush him out of bed, and down the stairs, towards the safe room, he doesn't want to let me leave, but I get the guard to pull him from me and get him to safety.

I have to get to the attack as quickly as possible, since I'm our best weapon, considering the fact that I have gotten the most training, and I'm the strongest.

I quickly get out of the pack house, and I shift into my black wolf, I sniff the air to find the direction, before running to help by warriors.

When I reach the attack, I can smell that it's exactly who we expected to visit us, Emma's pack, I swear under my breath, I can't believe that my father was stupid enough to put us in this situation.

At least he didn't get a chance to leave yet, and he will have to help us fight, thinking about it now, I just realised what he really wanted this vacation for.

He wanted to be as far away from the pack as he could before the attack happened, unfortunately for him they came quicker then he could escape.

I see a wolf running at me, and quickly rip his throat out before I throw it to the ground, and I go towards the next one.

After hours of fighting, I can see that most of my warriors are still standing, but they are getting tired, and it seems that there's another group coming to attack us.

I wonder how many more people are they willing to let us kill, hoping that we will get tired.

They definitely don't have a good strategy, they just hope that we will get tired, and they won't have any luck with that.

My warriors were trained for this situations, painful hours of training weren't for nothing it seems.

At least now, after having to fight for hours without any break, maybe they will stop complaining about how long we have to train, and they will appreciate how ready to fight they are because of it.

After another two hours, the attack seems to stop, but we decide to wait a while longer, and when there's no more wolves coming, I order for half of the warriors to gather all the bodies to be burned, and the rest to keep guarding.

Meanwhile I go to check on the people in the safe room.

When I get there, I tell the guard to open the door, which he does, and immediately Timmy throws himself at me, making me stumble backwards and almost fall since I didn't expect to be attacked here.

I swear at myself, not happy that I have allowed myself to not be prepared, even though this attack is welcome.

After all, it could have been a real attack, and I could have been killed for not being prepared for it.
