Announcement - [2023]

I know. Shocking. For those who have this book in their libraries, the sudden publishing of this part and the subsequent review must be jarring. And now that you're here, I'll tell you what this is about.

Simply put, The Pink Alpaca Reads and Reviews program is getting shut down. By who? By me. Don't get me wrong, I love doing this. I love helping people improve their writing. But unfortunately, it's gotten to a point where I noticed I'm giving too much and getting too little in return.

Now, you might be thinking---so you are really just doing this for the follows/reads/votes, etc.---and for that, I won't blame you. But there must be something you must understand at this point in time---there's simply too much work involved in reading a whole book, analyzing it for its flaws/flawlessness, and writing a review about it. It honestly took me this long to realize that what I'm doing is basically a free beta-reading service that some people actually get paid to do and some authors are willing to pay to get.

There are a ton of things you might be thinking that I'm saying in this announcement, and it's fine. I'm not well-versed or the best at articulating my stances on things like this, so yeah. So, I'll just say that to all who have been part of PAR program, you guys are lucky people because this will be the last time I'll be doing this stuff for free.

Do I mean monetary compensation? No. But if you're nice, then, sure. STILL, I will never ask for money when giving my reviews.

So, if I ever decide to continue the practice of reading completed and undiscovered books to the end and writing a review about them, it's going to be with payment in Wattpad terms. No more of this free stuff because 1) I'm expecting major life changes in the coming years, 2) I'm already knee-deep in writing projects I needed to get out of the way, and 3) I'm burned out. Tired.

It doesn't change the fact that I want to help people improve their writing, but...yeah. I can only help so much with the time and energy I have. I can only do this much to serve a community. Writing and reviewing is a thankless job, as I have proven time and again.

Yup. This era of PAR has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who has indulged my ramblings and to those authors who have participated over its 3-year run. It's been a fun ride with all of you. I've met most of my favorite Wattpad books through this program and for that, I'll forever be grateful. uwu.
