Epilogue
MARKIN S. BRILLIANTES POV
I WAS busy making my blueprint when suddenly Grandpa entered my office. I let go of the pencil I was holding and stood up to greet my grandfather.
We used to do this to respect our eldest, Grandpa.
He patted my head, gentle as he laughed.
"Are you busy, my grandson, Markin?" he asked me as he looked around my office.
"Not at all, Grandpa. I'm just finishing my blueprint for my project next month," I answered, na sinabayan ko pa nang pag-iling.
Grandpa grabbed my shoulder. "Don't work too much, my grandson. You don't need to advance your jobs. Loosen up and rest, Engineer Markin," he told me and smiled.
Maupo ho muna kayo," I said and he approached the single sofa. I sat on the opposite side of his seat.
"What do you want to drink, Grandpa?" I asked him.
"A coffee will do, hijo," he replied and I nodded.
I stood up to make coffee. I have a coffee maker inside my office so I don't have to order my secretary to make coffee anymore. So that if I want to drink, I can do it immediately without asking for help from others. I can do it by myself after all.
I brewed two coffees and then I returned to my place earlier. "Here it is, Grandpa," I said a I placed the cup of coffee on the table.
"You know Sta. Tomas, Markin?" he asked me when he sipped his coffee. Umuusok pa ito kaya hinihipan niya rin.
"A place, Grandpa?" I asked him in response and he nodded.
"Yes, a province. You work too much. Why does your brother torture you with a lot of tacks, hijo? You are given a project that is difficult to handle?" he asked me one after another. We talk about Kuya Markus. No, he's a good elder brother.
"No, Grandpa. He is not really strict in giving us a project. He even asks us if we can handle the task he gives us dahil babawiin po niya iyon sa amin at sa halip ay siya ang hahawak no'n," I explained to him that makes him nodded.
"That's good to hear, my grandson. Anyway, I'll just give you an invitation. I received this earlier today," he said and pulled out an invitation card from his coat. He placed it on the center table and I immediately took it.
There is only one festival in their area and there is a barangay exhibit that is the most important for the invited people to attend. After that there will also be a party.
"What's this for, Grandpa?" I asked him, confused.
"We only have one night and two days in Sta. Thomas, hijo. So you and your Dad come with us. You are the one I chose to include because you are the one doing the advance work for the next month of your project. So give yourself a break first and you can unwind there. This place is beautiful," he said. Of course I can say no, because I don't want to disappoint my grandfather.
