Opening your eyes, you realized the bright light had subsided.
You looked around, taking note of your surroundings. Yourself and the other students stood on a square platform, the floor was the same as the classrooms and the desks hadn't moved. What was once the ceiling of the enclosed classroom was now a pale blue sky, and you had to shield your eyes from the bright rays of the sun.
Palm trees around you swayed in the light breeze as specks of sand blew onto the edges of the platform. Strands of your h/c hair blew into your face and you tucked them behind your ears as you looked back at Usami.
None of it made any sense. The classroom walls collapsing like a stage set, nowhere to be seen now. How did you get...here? It didn't make sense...
"W-what the hell!?" The original brunette exclaimed.
You felt the same way. How in the world did this happen?
The boy in the chef's outfit pulled on the roots of his hair. "Wh-wh-wh-wh-wh-wh-what!?"
"This is a joke... right...?" The pink-haired boy asked, palming his forehead.
The girl that woke you up clenched her fists and squeezed her eyes shut. "Where are we!?" She cried.
"W-what's going on!?" The red-haired girl asked, covering her face with her hands.
Everyone was shaken up, including yourself. Nothing that was happening was rational... no matter how hard you tried to come up with a reason why this was happening, you couldn't find one.
Usami jumped up in cheer, raising her arms. "Everyone, please stay calm! There is no reason to panic! Seeee? Look around! Feast your eyes on this beautiful ocean... It's like your heart is being washed clean, isn't it? It washes away everything... even the bad things..."
"Hold on, give us the deatils...!" The gray-haire girl with the sheathed sword protested. "Where in the world are we?"
"Where, you ask? Well, obviously, we're...Out where it's better! Out where it's wetter!" Usami cheerfully replied. "...Out by the sea!"
You turned back to Usami, slamming your hand onto the closest desk in impatience. "Enough with the beautiful mind shit, you damned plush toy! What are we doing here?"
The shorter blonde boy beside you glanced at you for a split second before returning his gaze to Usami, who was now humming in thought. "You know,... your throat's gonna get sore if you keep yelling at me like that.
The attractive blonde girl clasped her palms together. "But... we were just at school... and now we're by the sea... this is impossible..."
You took a deep breath, narrowing your eyes as Usami giggled.
"Fine." You huffed, trying to keep your cool. "All of this nonsense is really starting to get to me now, you know, Usami?" The tension in your voice was clearer than you'd like, no matter how hard you tried to hide it. "And, honestly, I'd really like to know...What the hell we're doing here!"
Usami was quiet for a moment before sighing. "Jeez, you're fiesty! Please do not worry. The school trip has just started, that's all!"
The girl that woke you up waved her finger arond in the air. "But, like, why are we on a school trip all of a sudden!? You totally skipped allllll the stuff that comes first!"
The original brunette nodded in agreement. "Sh-she's right! We're all supposed to be attending Hope's Peak Academy."
"Ah, Hope's Peak Academy... I seee, I seeeee... You don't say...." Usami murmured. "You guys are feeling unsure about Hope's Peak Academy! Then, in that case... Please forget about Hope's Peak Academy! That's why we're having a school trip in the first place!"
You tilted your ead to the side. "...huh?" You asked. The students that came to Hope's Peak Academy in hopes of having a successful life, are just supposed to forget about it?
The short blonde beside you practicaly spoke your thoughts, clenching his fists as he furrowed his brows. "The hell do you mean we should forget about it!?"
The taller blonde boy with the glasses huffed. "Hey... what are you? Just what are you scheming!?"
Usami looked around, almost in a frantic manner, only raising your suspicions even more. "Wh-Wha-whaaat? I'm not scheming anything! I'm doing this for everyone's sake! I'm praying from the bottom of my heart that hope will grow within everyone's heart! There's nothing dangerous on this island, whatsoever! So please, there is no need to worry at all!"
"Island?" The boy with wavy white hair asked. "Did you just say island?"
"Yep! And it certainly is beautiful!" Usami replied. "It was prepared just for us! Free of other people and danger!"
The original brunette boy tilted his head. "Are you saying... this island is uninhabited?"
The boy with wavy white hair stepped back, his eyes widened. "Perhaps... you brought us to this uninhabited island to make us kill each other...!?"
"A-wa-wa!?" Usami exclaimed, flailing her arms. "K-kill each other!? Nuh-uh , no way!"
"Somehow, I have trouble believing that protest..." you mumbled, wrapping your arms around yourself in discomfort.
Usami frantically shook her head. "I'm serious! No way! Bloody business, like causing violence or inflicting pain, is a big no-no on this island! Even the word kill... just saying it horrifies me!" She covered her head, or what she coud, with her arms. "Kyaah! So scary!"
The tall blonde with glasses sighed. "Then... what is this school trip you mentioned? What do you intend for us to do on this island?"
"Alrighty! I shall announce it to everyone right now!" Usami cheered. "While you all relax on this island paradise, you must get along and strengthen your bonds with one another! That is the main rule on this heart-thobbing school trip!"
You narrowed your eyes, leaning on the desk beside you. "Heart-throbbing school trip!? I don't think so, plush toy. I came here to assure my future as a poet, not to waste my time making friends on some random island!""I understand that!" Usami replied. "And you will graduate assured of your future in poetry, I promise! For now, spend these peaceful and relaxing days nourishing hope and lazing about, free from pain, free from suffering... Truly, this lovey-dovey heart-throbbing school trip is everyone's homework!"
"What the hell does that even mean!?" The original brunette boy gasped.
Usami ignored his question and jumped up and down cheerfully. "Now, let the heart-throbbing school trip begin!"
And with that, a familiar feeling of dizziness swept over you. You stumbled back, noticing the others stumbling as well. The short blonde beside you pressed his palms to either side of his head, letting out a pained groan.
He locked his eyes with yours, and after a split moment, your eyelids drooped and you felt your legs become weak. You squeezed your eyes shut, gripping onto the desk for stability.
You fell to your knees, the familiar black setting appearing before your eyes, and eventually, the sounds around you faded into the distance.
