The Big Night Part 1

You had been sitting in the dining hall with some of the other students, impatiently waiting for everyone to arrive. You still couldn't get over what Fuyuhiko had said in the supermarket.

"It's what's best for you and me."

Who the hell did he think he was? Yakuza? Yeah. Rude? Yeah. Your father? Absolutely not.

"Ah, Hajime!" Nagito breathed as Hajime entered the dining hall.

Looking up, you met Hajime's eyes and he offered you a kind smile. You gave him an acknowledging nod, sighing and tapping your foot on the wooden floor as he looked back at Nagito.

Now that you thought about it, Nagito really did go all out when he had decorated the dining hall.

"How do you like it?" Nagito asked.

Hajime tilted his head just a bit to the side. "What do you mean?"

Nagito raised his hands, gesturing out at his decorations. "See? I decorated the whole dining hall for the party. I even laid out the carpet too!"

A look of shock wafted over Hajime's face and he blinked a few times before slowly speaking. "Really? Even the carpet?"

"Yup," the white-haired boy nodded. "I brought it from the supermarket. It was really weird to find it so... trashed. And for some reason, Fuyuhiko was cleaning it up!" He chuckled. "He told me he had an outburst, but then just yelled at me to get what I need and 'fuck off' in his words."

You held back a scoff, rolling your eyes at Nagito's statement. So, what? Fuyuhiko was covering for you now? Cleaning up your mess? Sure, he comforted you. Twice. And told you he'd protect you. And stopped you form killing someone. Great job on his part, kudos to him. But, really, it was time to get his nose out of your business.

Nagito shrugged. "I actually wanted to cover the whole floor, but I guess the carpet wasn't big enough. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs all over the place too... It took me all day to clean the dining hall just because of that."

"You're commendable, Nagito," Hajime hummed, shooting the boy a small smile and a chuckle. You had to admit, Hajime was endearing.

Nagito grinned and waved his hand. "... Yeah, thanks!"

Honestly, Nagito was too. If not more so.

Hajime glanced at the wall. "Iron plates?" He asked.

You turned your head to where he was looking, and sure enough, there were Iron plates bolted onto the wall. You must've missed them when you walked in.

"That reminds me, I saw some similar looking iron plates in the hallway too," he added.

Huh. Must've missed those too.

You huffed. "Okay, yeah, they're iron plates, Hajime. But why are the bolted on the wall?"

"All is not what it appears to be," Gundham hummed.

"What?" you groaned, gazing at him with disinterest.

Gundham crossed his arms and smiled. "One of my four devas, Supernova Silver Fox San-D, has seen what lies shrouded amidst the darkness...! Though those iron plates appear to be bolted to the walls, they are actually bolted to what's called 'windows'."

"Windows...?" Hajime hummed, and you scoffed. Did he not know what a window was?

You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest. "Yeah, Hajime. A window. Y'know, big glass squares on the wall, see-through, they let light in, some can open, you know the type?"

Hajime knitted his brows, looking at his feet with  flustered face. "Y-yeah, I know what a window is, Y/n."

"There are no windows in this dining hall," Gundham chuckled. "I assume those iron plates are covering them."
