You sighed, your hands shaking as you left the old building. Everything Nagito had said... he was right. You were just like him... in all the wrong ways.

It wasn't fair. You couldn't be happy. The moment you felt some hope, it slipped away. All because you were too stupid.

The first time you had felt decent actual happiness on this island was when you had heard Fuyuhiko's first vow to protect you. He made a promise that you never thought someone would make. Well, maybe your brother, Ryoichi, but he's gone now and you had no clue what happened to him.

You had no clue what happened to many people you've known. Your friends, your family, anyone from Hope's Peak.

But maybe that was... maybe that was because you were a psychopath. Just like Nagito... in all the wrong ways.

No one should care about you. That would lead them to death, like your brother.

"Hey, the fuck's wrong with you?" A familiar voice asked.

You blinked, looking up from your hands to see Fuyuhiko. "Nothing... Wait, hey, how did you find out where I was?"

"I asked around, Ibuki said she saw you heading this way." He crossed his arms. "I was just trying to figure out where you ran off to. You were gone for so damn long, I started to worry that someone had actually killed you. Now tell me what's wrong with you."

"Oh..." You bit your lip, looking away. "Nothing."

"Don't bullshit me," Fuyuhiko hissed, walking up to you. He placed a hand on your shoulder, gently leading you to a nearby bench. He sat you down, before sitting next to you. "Now, what the fuck's wrong? You look like you're going to cry."

You looked at him, before looking away again.

"Don't ignore me," he said, taking a deep breath. "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's going on. And I don't care how long it takes. I'll stay here all fucking night."

You took a deep breath, blinking any tears away before looking at him. "Nothing. I'm absolutely fine. I have no idea where my brother is, we're stuck on an island being forced to kill each other, and now everyone is either scared of me or planning to kill me because I tried to kill Sonia so I'm just peachy."

Fuyuhiko was silent, not sure how to respond to the situation. He wasn't even sure if there was a way to respond.

"But..." You shook your head, looking down at the ground. "I'm fine. You can leave now. I'm a big girl. I can handle myself. I mean, if anything, I'll just kill whoever is trying to hurt me."

"No."

You blinked, looking up and over at Fuyuhiko. "Wait... What? No what?"

"No, I'm not leaving." He looked over at you. "You're obviously not fine. I'm not a fucking idiot, I can see that. And I know what it's like, having your family torn apart."

You narrowed your eyes, your brows furrowing as you spoke. "What do you mean?"

"Peko's been a friend of mine for a long time," he explained. "She was raised to be my sword, a tool for my family to use. When she was born, she was ripped from her family and put into a training program to make her the perfect sword. Her entire life revolved around protecting me. She had no family, no friends, no anyone."

"I-I see..." You didn't know that about Peko. You were so caught up in the idea that everyone had a wonderful life that you never considered that someone could have had a bad one.

"So, yeah, I get the whole not having family shit." Fuyuhiko shrugged. "So, no, I'm not leaving you here."

You couldn't help but chuckle, shaking your head.
