Nothing. You found absolutely nothing.
Not that it would help anyway. There was only one way off of this island, and no one seemed to grasp that concept. The only way, the only escape, would cost you your humanity. But you couldn't stay on this island. You had a future.
A future worth fighting for.
Shame washed over you. It was wrong to even consider killing one of these other people, despite your desperation to escape. But you would be lying if you said you didn't prioritize your future and need for an escape.
Ibuki would make an easy target... But Sonia would too, and Kazuichi would make an easy victim as well as soon as he calmed down a bit.
As your mind reeled, thoughts of murder invaded your head. Sonia... Kazuichi... Ibuki... even Hiyoko, perhaps.
It wouldn't be complicated to take out one of those few people. But as of now, Sonia seemed to be your best bet.
It's not like you had anything against her, you were just aiming for the easiest person to kill. And it's not like you want to kill anybody, either. But that's the only way off this island, and either way, someone was going to meet their inevitable death whether it was at the hands of you or someone else.
Thinking about how you could do it and get it over with, you had come to a conclusion. You could get in and get out without suspicion if you played you cards right. Given the right circumstances, you could kill Sonia and clean up the evidence without issues. So long as no one saw you, you were sure you could get away with it.
You shivered at the thought of ending the life of someone else. Stabbing a knife into her body, bashing her head in with a sturdy object, pushing her down the stairs of the restaurant, wraping your hands around her throat, beating her onto the ground with harsh punches and kicks until the breath left her body-
"What the fuck!?" Someone exclaimed, stumbling backward.
You looked up from your feet, gasping in surprise. You had been so lost in thought that you didn't realize that you had crashed into another person.
But looking up at the familiar boy who couldn't be anymore than an inch or two taller than you, you scoffed. Considering his comments earlier, you didn't mind the fact that you very well could've accidentally knocked Fuyuhiko on his ass.
His eyes narrowed as he sent you a glare, regaining his composure. "What are you thinking about that's just so fucking interesting that you don't realize someone's in front of you?"
You shook your head, rolling your eyes as you tried to shove past him. To your dismay, he grabbed your wrist and you sent him a glare.
"I asked you a damned question," he growled.
Well, you couldn't tell him you were thinking about killing off Sonia soon, that might drive him to tell everyone or to even kill you himself. You weren't going to risk that.
"I know," you nonchalantly replied, jerking your wrist away from his grasp. "But I'm sure you don't want to hear my smartass response."
Fuyuhiko sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Damn it... Fuck, is that why you stormed off so fast? I didn't mean it like that," he mumbled, just loud enough for you to hear.
Damn, now you felt bad. You opened your mouth to speak but all that came out was a gasp as a sharp pain shot through you and your hand flew to your wounded arm.
The blonde boy's brows furrowed and he tilted his head a bit to get a better look. "What the hell happened there?"
"Nothing," You shrugged. "It's just a graze."
"Yeah, a graze, but it if it happened last night-"
"Fuyuhiko, drop it."
And so he did, letting out an irritated sigh as he fell into step beside you when you began to walk.
It was quiet. It wasn't a comfortable kind of quiet, either, it was more tense than last night's silence. Finally, Fuyuhiko's voice put an end to the tensed silence. "This is bullshit."
You glanced at him before returning your eyes to your feet. "What's bullshit?"
"Everything!" He responded, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his trousers. "This is all absurd! Whoever's behind this is forcing teenagers to kill each other and... it's wrong."
A pebble rolled a few feet in front of you after you kicked it with your foot and kept walking. "Yeah..." You mumbled before letting out a breathy chuckle. "Y'know, sometimes I think there's a way out of here. But there's not. The only way out is to kill someone and..."
"Are you thinking about it?"
"No!" You lied, and he looked at his feet. "No, of course not... We... We all have lives to get back to."
Fuyuhiko nodded. "Yeah," he agreed. After a short pause he cleared his throat. "What do have back at home?"
You let out another breathy chuckle, a small smile playing on your lips. "Well, I've got a poetry career waiting for me out there. I've worked too hard in my life to be stuck here..."
He didn't respond and you choked, squeezing your eyes shut to stop the tears that pricked at your eyes. "I don't want to die here. I can't die here..."
His hand reached for yours and he grabbed it, sighing as he stopped walking and looked at you. "You won't die in here."
"You don't know that."
"Yes, I do."
"How?'
"... Because I won't let anyone hurt you."
You opened your eyes, meeting his golden gaze and holding his stare. He wouldn't let anyone hurt you. What about you hurting someone else and getting caught? He wouldn't be able to do anything about it then. But you had to get out of here.
You shot him a small, wavering smile as a tear fell from your eye. "We just met, idiot..."
He nodded. "I know... But, I feel close to you already."
Big mistake... If you killed Sonia and got away with it... And... Got away with it... If you got away with Sonia's murder, he would... You didn't even want to think about what would happen to him if you went through with it and succeeded. To be honest, you felt close to him already too...
"Okay..." You swallowed. "I trust you."
He smiled, blinking slowly as you stared into each other's eyes.
You were the first to look away, lowering your hand from his grasp and making your way down the paths again as he fell into step beside you.
"So," you started, "Am I the only one that thinks Byakuya's a little too bossy?"
Fuyuhiko laughed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Y/n!"
"I'm serious!"
