Chapter 26: Silly Rain

Red's P.O.V

I KNEW the streets of Guanzons could be packed with people everyday but not like today.

An earthquake threatened everyone's lives and now we are here on the streets and we are not allowed to enter the building for now.

I got my phone when NDRRMC is alerting my phone.

"Grabe...may mga nasirang gusali dahil sa lindol. Hindi mo aakalain!" Napabaling ang atensyon ko kay Ran na tumakbong lumapi sa amon dito sa labas.

Dahil possible ng magkaroon ng aftershock ay bawal na kaming pumasok sa loob. The management even cancelled the work.

"RosaKing?" Banggit naman ni Jimin kaya agad akong napalapit.

My eyes widened when I saw the flash news about destroyed buildings and sites after the earthquake.

I called Faith, because I sent her on one of the location flashed on the news, but she's not answering my call.

Then I panicked.

I am not good at handling situation like this...I always get weak whenever these things happen to me.

This is one of the flaws I hate about myself.

Lumayo ako kina Jimin. Dahil maraming tao sa kalsada ang mga sasakyan ay hindi na makadaan. I am thinking of going back inside to take my car...so I tried when someone stopped my hand. When I craned my back, it was Anikka who is glaring at me.

"Where are you going?" She gritted her teeth upon asking me but couldn't care to wonder why.

"I have to go somewhere...I have to make sure my staff is safe..."

Thanks to how the streets are populated and distracted, we could talk freely wothout worrying anyone would see us.

"Delikadong pumasok sa building..." napahigpit naman ang pagkakahawak ni Anikka sa akin pero nalulunod na ako sa kaba. Because I never want to see anyone dying on my watch, just like how I lost Mom. When I felt she was strong and happy but eventually lost her without even expecting it.

So I always fear that someone might be hurt or sick that I wouldn't even notice.

"I'll be quick..." pakiusap ko sa kanya.

"Then use my car..." iniabot naman nito sa akin ang kanyng susi.

The reason why she lent me her car is that it is parked on a nearby coffee shop and I need not to go back to the building where my car is parked at the basement.

I rushed over the site where Faith is deployed today. Maraming tao at reporters pagkadating ko doon. It is expected because it's RosaKing, paniguradong magkakaroon na naman ito ng issue sa mga ibabalita nila.

I was searching everywhere, asking anyone how to get inside because the police has taken over the area. I felt dizzy when people started pushing. May mga nagpupumilit kasing pumasok. Napatingin ako sa ambulansyang nagmamadaling dumating. May nakita rin ako sa gate na mga sugatang nasa stretcher na dala ng mga medic. And this heightened my anxiety today...

That if something happened to her because I sent her here...I wouldn't forgive myself...because after all she was the one who saved me...but I haven't done anything for her.

"Red!" perhaps that voice was powerful enough to stop everything around me, and crash the fear that's slowly burning me out. I gazed on the direction where I heard the voice and saw her standing there, smiling like a fool.

"Faith! I've been calling you, hindi ka sumasagot...you could at least tell me that you're okay!" I rushed towards her to settle this fear that has been eating me since a while ago.
