Chapter 44: Dinner

Cassidy Jean's POV

I watched myself in the mirror as I sigh, rethinking all the decisions I've made. Now that I think about it, every single thing that has happened recently makes no sense. Why did I agree to this? Am I really going there? What if something bad happens to me? Will that jerk kill me? F*ck. I can't stop overthinking. I mean--it's been a few years. I don't know what'll happen to me especially because it's that guy that I'm visiting.

Visiting? Eww no. Pupunta lang naman ako dun dahil 'yon ang napagkasunduan. Nothing more, nothing less. May lumalayas bang bumabalik para bumisita?

Napailing ako sa sariling naisip. I feel weird. Tinignan ko ang kabuuan ko at medyo tinabingi pa ang ulo upang pag-aralan ang detalye ng suot. Hindi naman gusot ang damit ko, sadyang hindi lang akma para sa 'formal dinner' kuno ni gago. Should I change? Heck no psh it's my goal to get into his nerves.

"Where are you going?"

Nagulat ako sa biglaang pagsulpot ni Mavy sa reflection ng salamin. Tuloy-tuloy na pala siyang pumasok sa kwarto ko. She even went behind me to also stare at myself in the mirror. Ofcourse my attention immediately diverted to her. Masyadong mapagduda ang mukha niya, tila may ideya na kung saan ako patungo.

Did manang tell her? Maybe.

Bumuntong-hininga na naman ako sa pangalawang pagkakataon. There's no point in lying so might as well tell her. "I'm going to Carson's place."

"WHAT?! CASSID--" I shushed her before she even finishes her sentence.

I know she's about to nag me and shower me with questions.

I faced her with a small smirk. "Manang Helen already knows. Ask her for a more detailed explanation. I need to go."

"But Cassidy, you know that its danger--"

"I don't care. Bye."

Nagmamadali kong kinuha ang susi ng motor ko at mabilis na tumakbo palabas. I heard her call for my name several times but I didn't bother stopping and just continued running. I'm being a little shit right now, I know and yet I'm still doing it. Napakatigas ng ulo ko eh, it's already part of my character. I'm dead serious though. Once I arrive there, I'll be in the danger zone. I'll be involved in a big ass trouble.

Why exactly am I in such a hurry, you may ask? Well, he said a few words before he ended the call and up to now, it's still up in my head as clear as water.

'Don't be late or you'll face the consequences'.

He may have said that half kiddingly, but I know damn well what he's talking about. I need to arrive there on time or else, he'll have me collared again and control me like a dog. It's dangerous and risky because I've been there myself but still, breaking promises is not my style. Breaking a deal is not my style. There's no turning back. It's not like he'd actually kill me, right?

Sumakay na ako sa motor ko at pinaandar 'yon. I went over the speed limit but I'm too focused on the road to give a slight care. His mansion is far from my condo, maybe a five hour long drive. With my speed at the moment, I think I'm gonna arrive there half five.

Iba 'yong kabog ng dibdib ko nang masilayan ko na ang mansion ng gagong ama 'ko. I can't believe I drove my way all the way here. Nasa gate pa lang ako, parang umuurong na lahat ng lakas ng loob ko kanina. That old man's house is really big. Iilan lang naman sana silang nandidito tsk kaya hindi niya ako nababantayan ng maayos nuon e. Minsan lang kami magkita sa laki ng bahay niya.
