It's 3rd January. Our school has reopen. But to my surprise, Vinisha is absent today. Why the hell is she absent? She never misses school. Her attendance is always 100%. And because of her my attendance is 100% too.

My day is wasted. She's not here. What happened to her? Is she okay? Is she sick? Is she out of station? I want to know. I'm desperate now. And Meera is the only one who can answer to my questions.

It's tiffin break. Meera is talking with few girls. I don't wanna waste my time. I want to know about Vinisha right now. I go to her group and call her.

"Meera, I want to talk to you."

She is stunned so as the other girls standing with her. "Me?"

"Yes, You." I point at her.

"What talk?" She asks.

"Not here. There. Alone."

All the girls are looking at me with their widened eyes.

I go to a corner side of the playground and Meera follows me there. I look around to see if there's anyone near us to hear our talk. Luckily, there's no one. Everyone is busy with their own business.

"Where's Vinisha?" I ask directly.

"Hmm, Vinisha?" She asks.

"Yes. She is absent today. Why is she absent? What happened to her? She never misses school. Why today? Tell me right now, I wanna know....."

"Hold on dude. So many questions at once. Vini is okay. She just caught cough & cold. She always gets sick in this season. She was not feeling well that's why she is absent today." She answers.

"Oh." I twitch my eyebrows.

Fuck! She caught cough & cold. Now, I hate this winter season.

"But why are you curious?" She asks and tries to pull back her smile. "Were you worried about her?"

I try to maintain my serious facial expression. "I was just.... thinking. I was curious. You can go now."

"Oh, curious! Well... she was curious about you too."

My face is suddenly lighten up. "What? About me?"

"Yeah, about your fight."

Shit!

She continues. "Today, my friends from the science section were telling me that, Ayush confessed that he said something.... about Vini and that's why you got furious and punched him."

"No, it's not like that." I lie.

"Don't lie Aryan. You fought with him because of Vinisha. You did that fight for her, isn't it?" She is smiling and is expecting me to say yes.

"No. As I said it's not like that. Don't overthink." I sternly reply.

She pulls back her smile and nods. "Oh... one more question."

"What?"

"That bakery. Is it your bakery?"

"Yup, my sister's bakery."

"Oh! Actually Vini was asking."

My face is again lighten up. "She noticed me there?"

"Yeah, she did."

"Then, why the hell was she avoiding me? I thought she didn't noticed me."

"Ah... that I don't know. You should ask her yourself. Tomorrow!" The bell rung. "Oh, the bell rung. I have to go. Bye." She goes back to her friends.
