A Black Rose
VINISHA

I giggle softly while writing my wishes in the diary Meera gifted me on my birthday.

Most of my wishes are related to Aryan.

I bet he will laugh if he gets to read what all things I have written in here.

I was smiling and writing down the things when my nostrils filled with the aroma of delicious food being cooked in the kitchen.

I look up and sniff my nose, inhaling the pleasant aroma and try to identify what actually Mumma was cooking for me and Papa.

It wasn't chicken. It's wasn't paneer either. It was something else that I've never tasted.

I close my diary and keep it in a drawer of my study table. I rise from my chair and straighten my white Pj top which had lifted a little.

Stepping out of my bedroom, I make my way towards the kitchen. While walking, I push back my purple-black thick hairband to secure my baby hair. I usually don't wear hairbands. But today I decided to wear it because it was matching with my purple-black pajamas.

"Mumma!" I call and lean against a wall, peaking inside the kitchen

"Mumma!" I call and lean against a wall, peaking inside the kitchen. "What are you cooking?" I ask.

She smiles at me and nods at the food. "See yourself."

I raise my brows and step in the kitchen. My gaze falls down and I see different types of Rajasthani food on the kitchen counter. Bajra ki roti, Dal bati churma, Kachori, Ker sangari and many more food items whose name I don't even know were served in the serving bowls.

"So many food items? That too Rajasthani?" I ask in amusement. "Is it something special today?"

"No," She chuckles softly and shakes her head. "Your Papa has invited Dr. Shekhawat and his family for dinner."

My feet froze and heart stops for a moment after hearing their name.

Whyyyy!!! Why are they coming here???

"Why?" I ask in disbelief.

"What why?" Mumma glance at me. "Your Papa has invited them that's why they are coming. So I thought of making Rajasthani food for them."

So, they can just go to Rajasthan and eat Rajasthani food there. Why our house???

"Their hometown is Rajasthan. I think they will like the food I made." Mumma says and serves a kachori in a bowl. "Here, you wanna try?" She smiles and hands me the bowl.
