Helping Hand
VINISHA

The UPS of my computer is not turning on. What should I do? I've been trying & trying but still it's not working.

"You should take help from Sarbjit Sir." Meera suggests. She is sitting on my left side and has started working on her computer.

"Yeah, I guess so." I say.

"Vini!!!" She suddenly whispers loudly.

"Bunny..... Bunny..... Bunny..... Bunny..... Bunny....." I don't know how many times she took that name. She had her eyes widened and was giving me a signal to look back. I can hear footsteps behind me.

I tilted my face little bit to see him. He was coming towards me. I looked at Meera, she looked at me. We both were in shock. Our eyes were widened and we both were thinking the same thing.

"Vinisha!" He calls.

He was standing at my right side. I turned to my right and lifted my face to look at him.

"Something's wrong?" He asks.

I innocently nod my head.

"Can I..... check?" He points at my computer.

I nod my head again. With much innocence.

He kneels down near my chair and presses the UPS button. Our faces were almost at the same height. We were so close. I can even smell his perfume. I was looking at him, admiring his face. His side profile is too beautiful to see.

Wait! Why am I admiring him? I have to speak something first. Right?

"What's wrong with it?" I ask.

"Hmm, I'm looking at it."

"Shall I go & call Sir?"

"No, no need of that."

He was still busy looking at the UPS. I turn my face towards Meera. She was so overexcited. She smiles widely and hit my elbow with hers playfully.

"Vinisha!" He calls again.

I turn to face him. "Hmm"

"Can you just hold this for a minute?"

He has taken out the UPS from it's place and is holding it in his hands. While taking the UPS from his hand, our fingers brushed with each other. I was little bit bended. Our faces were so close. He looked at me, I looked at him. I don't know why our eye contacts are always so intense.

Now, I was holding the UPS with my hands. He was trying to pull the plugs connected with it.

"Please do it fast. This UPS is too heavy to hold." I request.

"Yup, just a second."

He was so focused on his work. He licked his bottom lip and then bit it. He was not wearing our school blazer. His shirt sleeves were folded up to his elbow and his forearm veins were clearly visible. Oh My God! Distraction! Distraction! Distraction! I close my eyes for a second.

I think I should just run away from here.  Or I will just jump off the rooftop.

He pulled the two plugs which were earlier connected to the UPS. He plugged them on the switch board and switched on the CPU. And my computer was On. He took the UPS from my hand to put it in its place again.

"Oh, how did you do that, what happened actually?" I ask.

"I guess this UPS is broken. The two plugs connected with it, one is of the Monitor, another one is of the CPU. I just plugged both the plugs on the switch board and switched on the CPU. And here, your computer is On. UPS is nothing but just a linkage between the plugs of Monitor & CPU."
