Chapter 24, Peeping?! Say what?

Kara's POV

I closed my phone after telling Colton where I was. I was sitting on swings rocking myself back and forth lightly with my right foot. It was about 9 o'clock at night, even though it wasn't chilly at all. It was actually quite warm out. A nice warm breeze filtered through the air. My hair strands on my face clung to me as a few tears escaped my eyes. Why? Why did she have to do that? I've always been nice to her and then she does this to me. A few more tears ran down my face when I thought back to earlier when dad dropped me off at home after we spent the day together. He had to go to the store for groceries. 

I heard a car pull into the parking lot and then heard Colton get out of the car yelling my name.

"Kara! Kara!!" he yelled running up to me. He pulled me off the swing to hug me. After a few minutes, he pulled away looking at me.

"Kara, are you okay? What happened?" He asked again, but all I could do was look down avoiding his gaze. Colton took his left hand and lifted my chin, so our eyes could meet. When I our eyes met, Colton's eyes widened as he fixated on my black eye. 

"Who did this?!" he sternly asked. He was alarmed and ready to kick anyone's butt for hurting me. 

"No one." I manage to whisper out.

"No one? Kara obviously someone did this! Please tell me?" He asked as composed as he could. 

"I don't want to say who." I said back.

"Are you afraid it will happen again? It won't if you tell me." Colton said being sincere. 

"You promise you won't tell anyone?" I asked.

"Can't promise if you don't tell me?" He said with a sympathetic smile.

"Funny," I muttered, "okay. It was Kenzie Wyatt."

"What?! Why?" He bellowed. 

"Just because." I said while a few stray tears fell. 

"Kara, Lets go to my car and talk." Colton said while picking me up from the swing. He carried me all the way to his car, placing me in the passenger seat. He shut the door and strolled over to the driver's seat. Climbing in and sitting in the driver's seat. 

"Okay Kara. Tell me what happened?" Colton asked facing towards me. I starred out the window for a few seconds and then turned my head towards my big brother. 

"So, after dad and I had some ice cream; he took me home since he wanted to go get some groceries since we are low. After he dropped me off, I went inside and upstairs to my room. I walked past Landon's room and kept hearing sounds from his room. I thought it was a movie he was playing to loud. So I made my way to his door and Knocked. No one answered. " I said turning my gaze down at the floor.

"I knocked again but again no one didn't answer. So I decided to just walk in, and when I did Landon and Kenzie...were doing it." I know people have sex but it's kinda weird to admit it to your parents, let alone your older brother. 

"Anyways, they both stopped when they saw me. Landon was embarrassed so he ran into the bathroom to get dressed. But Kenzie, she just started yelling at me and calling me names and stuff.  She got up and walked towards me and slapped me across the face near my eye pretty hard. She kept shouting about me ruining her fun. Also about being a peeper and getting it on with him as well." I cried out and buried my face into my hands. How could she say that? 

I feel something hard and warm drape itself over my shoulders. I look up to see colton pulling me close to him. We sat in the car just hugging each other.  Within a few minutes, Colton pulls away and starts to talk to me.

"Kara, that isn't your fault. Kenzie is just...just a bitch. And what she said about you peeping is not right either. Let's go home and talk to Landon ok? I bet he is worried about you right now." He said while starting the car up and leaving the parking lot.

"I don't want to go home." I muttered.

"What do you mean? You have to come home." Colton tried to reassure me.

"No. I'm not welcomed there. I just get in the way." I articulated.

"Kara. You're going home. Landon and Dad need to know you are okay and safe." He said.

"Fine." I retaliated. I turned to face the window and laid my head against it.

Colton and I finally reached home within a half hour. I just looked up at the house dreading to go in. Not because I'm afraid of Kenzie being here, but for my family to yell at me for running away at night time.

"Ready?" Colton said. He opened his door and got out. I took a deep breath and followed him to the front door. Colton opened the door and stepped into the house. I walk in behind him to see Landon and my dad sitting on the couch watching tv. As soon as they saw me, both of them jumped up and ran towards me for a hug.

Dad pulled away for Landon to give me a hug.

"Kara, What were you thinking about leaving like that?" My dad yelled at me.

"I'm sorry daddy. I just needed to think." I muttered. 

"If you need to think, please do it here at home. Instead of just running off like that. Or call me and let me know you are okay." He said pulling me in for another hug.

"I'm sorry dad."

"It's alright, but you are grounded tomorrow okay. Now go to bed." He said after placing a kiss on my head for good night. 

"Night guys." I say and stroll myself up the stairs to my room. I walk in my room to my closet. I pull out my pajama shorts and a tank. After changing, I walk over to my bed and look at my phone. I had a few text messages and calls from my dad and Landon. I even had some from Shawn.

Shawn: Hey babe, U Ok?

Shawn: Please text me to let me know your ok.

Shawn: Babe, Please?

Shawn: You there?

I text Shawn back stating I am ok and if we could hang out on Wednesday since tomorrow I am grounded. 

ME: Hey srry. I'm Ok. Lets hang out Wednesday?

Shawn: Good you are ok. and Yep sounds good. 

ME: Okay night 

Shawn: Night babe. Sweet dreams

I close my phone and put it on it's charger. As I get ready under the covers, a faint knock is placed at my door. 

"Come in." I shout out. My bedroom door opens to reveal my brother Landon.

"Hey, we need to talk." He said. He walked over and sat on the side of my bed.

"I'm sorry Landon. I shouldn't have walked in on you guys." I said.

"No it was my fault. I should've told you I was busy. Kara, why did run off?" He asked.

"Just to think you know." I muttered trying to avoid his gaze.

"Sure? Colton told me what you told him. I'm sorry Kenzie said those things. When I came out of the bathroom, I yelled at her for saying those things." He said pulling me in for a hug.

"Really? You don't think anything she said was true?" I asked back.

"No. I don't. You are my sister and I am going to believe you than anyone else."

"Thanks." I smiled hugging Landon back.

"Love you Kara. Night." He said walking out of my room.

"Landon?!" I yell back.

"Yeah?"

"Did you break up with her?" I asked.

"Yes I did. No one hits my sister and calls her name around Colton and I. We made sure she will regret it." He said. Landon left my room after saying goodnight.

I turned the lights out and turned over in bed. It's great having big brothers. I close my eyes and wait for sleep to overtake me soon.
