Aizawa had been awake for a while already. It was early in the morning, almost 5 am and he was drinking his second cup of coffee already.
He heard footsteps on the stairs and turned towards them, Haru was slowly walking down them, rubbing his tired eyes as he went.
"Good morning" Aizawa said as Haru climbed onto the couch and sat beside him.
"Good morning" Haru mumbled back.
He laid down and put his head against Aizawa's leg, watching whatever TV show Aizawa was watching.
To be honest, Aizawa forgot he was watching TV, he didn't even remember putting it on. Did he really get that little sleep?
"Do you know what today is?" Aizawa asked Haru.
"Uhhhh..." Haru tried to think. He had lost track of the days since he stopped going to daycare. "Is it Tuesday?"
Aizawa chuckled. "It's Sunday, but it's a special Sunday because it's Mother's day"
"What's Mother's day?" Haru asked.
Aizawa stared at the back of Haru's head. Did Daiki never give you anything? He never even mentioned it? Surely Haru would remember, he should've experienced it three times already.
When Haru didn't get an answer he sat up and turned to look at Aizawa.
"It's all about mommy today" Aizawa said, realizing he forgot to answer.
"Like my birthday?" Haru asked. "Except for mommy?"
Aizawa nodded. "Yes, like it's mommy's birthday"
Haru shook his head. "Mommy doesn't have a birthday"
That one also hurt to hear, especially because Aizawa knew when your birthday was. You really were a saint.
Aizawa nodded. "Mommy has a birthday" He said. "She just doesn't celebrate it"
Now Haru made a confused face. "Why not? My birthday is the best ever! Why would mommy not celebrate her birthday?"
"We'll celebrate it this year" Aizawa said.
"Will she like it?" Haru asked.
Aizawa nodded. "I'll make sure of it"
Haru nodded back. "Can I help celebrate it?"
"Of course" Aizawa answered.
"Am I helping celebrating Mother's day?!" Haru asked excitedly, crawling closer to Aizawa and putting his hands on his leg so he could sit himself up more.
Aizawa nodded. "Of course, she's your mother"
"Oh yeah!" Haru said. "So why are you celebrating?"
"Because your mommy is very special" Aizawa answered. "But later today, is it okay if you and mommy celebrate alone for a while? I have to go celebrate with my mom too"
"You have a mommy?" Haru asked, like it was impossible.
Aizawa chuckled at the question. "Everyone has a mommy, but some people's mommy's aren't in their lives. But mine is, and she's really good to me so I have to celebrate with her."
Haru nodded. "Okay, we can celebrate alone for a little while"
"Thank you" Aizawa said.
"You're gonna come back, right?" Haru asked.
"Of course" Aizawa answered.
"Okay" Haru said with another nod.
He laid back down and put his head back against Aizawa's leg, after a few minutes of watching the TV he fell asleep.
