The words from Veda kept ringing in my ears as I got ready to meet Aravind and his family. They will be reaching any time now and I have to be prepared to face the battle. I took a deep breath and wore the earring. I kept the makeup minimal and dressing simple instead of a gaudy look with silk saree and gold ornaments.

Of course, I'm not going to agree for this marriage but I want to show the real me. I could have gone with pyjamas as that's what I wear when I'm home but my parents especially my mom will take the broomstick or her scale which I don't want. I took a deep breath and looked at myself in the mirror. I checked the clock and it showed the time as five past ten. My dad said that they would be here by ten.
I took my mobile and went to sit on my bed. I opened the WhatsApp messenger and started texting Veda.
Me: Hi!!
Within a couple of seconds, I received a reply.
Veda: Good Morning, Shana 🌞
Veda: Inaiku aachum breakfast saptacha?
Me: Sapten. Neethum thaan sapten.
Me: Sapidala naalum ooti vida enaku aalu iruku.
Veda: Ahahhaan!!
He sent a vadivelu gif and I busted out in laughter.
"Daru, mapillai veedu vara time aachu. Ipo poi keka pakka nu sathama sirichitu." My mother stopped near my bedroom doorsteps.

"Yen di ippadi solra?" She entered my bedroom and sat on my bed opposite me.
I turned my mobile screen off and placed my mobile next to me. "Pinna enna, ma. Muntha neethum naan anga poitu wait panitu irunthen. Fifteen minutes kazhichu appa Hridhay ku phone pani antha paiyan varala nu soli irukaru. Inaiku paru ten ku varen solitu innum aala kanom."
"Hey, mani ipo 10:10 thaan aguthu. Athu kula judge panidatha. Namma ooru traffic pathi thaan unakku theriyum la." She placed her hand on my knees.

"Unaku enna sonnalum nee unnoda pidivatham la thaan irupa. Enaku velai iruku naan varen." Mom got up and left the room. I took my mobile and checked the reply from Veda.
Veda: Sapten ma.
Veda: Avanga ellam vanthutangala?
Me: 10 ku vanthuduren nu sonnanga aana innum aala kaanom.
