Y/N POV
~~~~~~~~
"Any luck?" He asked.
I shook my head and sat down in the snow. "Nope."
He sighed with disappointment.
"I'm trying." I looked up at him. "I really am."
"I know you are, but..." He groaned. "I just really need to be here for him."
"...He did it again."
"I know."
"And then snapped at me."
"I know."
I let out a sad chuckle. "He almost threw me into a tree."
"I know."
I laid on my back. "I don't know what to do."
"Maybe... His library has something."
I sat back up. "He has a library?"
He nodded. "Yup."
"I'll see if I can get there later today."
"Alright."
"Am I looking for a specific book?"
He shook his head. "No. just anything to help."
"Ok." I stood up. "I'll try my best."
Nightmare POV
~~~~~~~~
I stared at the ceiling, twirling the knife around my neck, thinking no thoughts, feeling no feelings.
"Hey, Nightmare?" Y/N walked over to me.
"Yeah?" I replied without looking over.
She bit her bottom lip. "I, uh, heard you have a library."
"I do."
"Do you think you could take me?"
I sighed. "Why? It's a dusty old room filled with books I haven't touched in years."
"I- I just wanna see it, y'know? Plus, I... Kinda wanna read something, and all of the books in the library here are about monsters. Maybe you'll have something interesting."
I shrugged and sat up. "Unless you like romance novels, I probably have nothing of interest to you."
She giggled. "You read romance novels?"
"'Course." I stood up and stretched my arm. "Only thing worth reading, to be honest. Let's go."
~~~~~~~~
"Whoa." Y/N breathed as we entered the library. "That's... A lot of books."
"I don't even remember where I got half of them." I chuckled. "I've had them for so long."
She ran over to a bookshelf and grabbed a stepstool. She climbed onto it and started to scan the books for... Whatever she was looking for.
I blinked, and for a split second, she was gone, replaced with Killer, and a memory came with it.
~~~~~~~~
"Wow, Nighty, didn't think you were much of a reader." Killer nudged me teasingly as I led him into the library. "Surprised I never saw this earlier! I thought I had seen the whole castle."
"Please refrain from breaking anything." I said. "I'll be over here."
He snorted. "Like I'll break anything."
