Dust POV
~~~~~~~~
I cracked an eye socket open to see Y/N still on my ribcage, sleeping quietly. I smiled and brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face, careful not to wake her up.
"Dust." Dream's voice caused me to turn my head. "You should get up. Just in case she wakes up soon."
I inhaled sharply and carefully got off the couch. I beckoned Dream outside so I could yell at him without waking Y/N or anybody else up.
"Yeah?" He looked at me as we stepped outside.
I clenched my fists and shot a bone at him, missing purposefully by two inches.
He let out a yelp. "Dust! What was that for?"
"Sorry, sorry, just needed to get that out." I muttered. "Why do I have to stay away from her?" I asked, anger growing. "I want to be near her. I don't want her to hide from me."
"Well, you did kill her." Dream pointed out bluntly.
"Can't I talk to her?"
"No. You can't. She needs to come to you. She needs to get over this fear."
"WHAT fear?" I growled. "She was never scared of me like this before!"
"Yeah, well, I think I'd be scared too if my boyfriend went insane and killed me." Ink retorted, appearing out of nowhere.
"Stay out of this, squid." I snarled, then frowned. "I'm not her boyfriend!"
"You are too."
Before I could thrust a bone into his eye socket, Dream stepped between us. "Enough. We can't fight each other. It'll only make things worse."
"I just..." All of my anger dissipated, replaced by guilt, sadness, and the ever-familiar loneliness. "I just wanna be near her..."
"I know, Dust." Dream said quietly. "I know. But... She's been through a lot ever since she fell down here. You have to take that into consideration."
"...SHE SHOULD'VE NEVER COME DOWN HERE." I snarled and slammed my fist against the wall of my house angrily. "NONE OF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED IF SHE HAD JUST STAYED ON THE SURFACE."
"It's not her fault, Dust."
"I NEVER SAID IT WAS. NONE OF THIS IS HER FAULT. IT'S MINE. IT'S MY FAULT FOR BEING SUCH A DUMBASS AND GETTING ATTACHED TO HER." My eye flared purple and blue. "NIGHTMARE ONLY DID THIS BECAUSE I GOT ATTACHED. IF SHE HAD STAYED ON THE SURFACE, I WOULD'VE NEVER MET HER, AND SHE'D BE LIVING A NICE LIFE, NOT HAVING TO DEAL WITH FUCKING PTSD BECAUSE SOME BASTARD SHE HARDLY EVEN KNOWS KILLED HER."
Dream walked up to me and I clenched my fists.
...Then he gave me a hug. "It's not your fault either, Dust." He murmured. "It's Nightmare's fault. I don't know why he wanted her dead."
"Its my fault." I sobbed, falling to my knees.
"No, it's not."
"Yes it is."
"It really isn't." Ink said.
"Why can't you just let me blame myself?"
"Because it's not yourself you should be blaming." Dream sat beside me.
My anger came back. "Y'know what?" I stood up. "I'm gonna go to that goopy bitch you call your brother and ask him why."
"That's... Not a good idea." Ink chuckled awkwardly.
"It's a great idea. And I'm gonna do it. Bye." I teleported away before either of them could protest.
