CHAPTER SEVEN

I arrived at the party with Blake and scan the area. Rich, wealthy, and myterious-looking characters surround me. "Hindi ko akalain na ganito kadaming..tao dito." manghang sabi ko at napapakagat nalang sa labi ko habang nakatingin sa kanila.

"It has to be. The Miller family and friends equate to a considerable number." sabi nito

"Hindi ko akalain na madami ka ding palang kaibigan." sabi ko dito. "And why's that, Doc?"

"You just don't seem like the type of guy  who has friends..You're not exactly warm and fuzzy." sabi ko. "You're right, I'm not---" Blake's look away then, and I feel a stab of regret of my stomach. Am I right? Does he not have many friends? I suppose the mafia business means you can't trust many people---

Just then, a tall girl emerges from the crowd. Her eyes lock onto mine with something akin to venom as she approaches. "Alexandro. Bonjourno." bati nito na kinakunot ko.

( Bonjourno means goodmorning)

"Bonjourno." bati din ni Blake dito. A strange feeling hits me as Blake embraces the woman, kissing her on both cheeks. Sino 'to?

"Sophia, this is Isabella. Isabella, meet Sophia. I've known her all my life---"

"And we've been betrothed since we were kids. That is until you came on the scene." sabi nito na kinagulat ko at napalingon kay Blake. Betrothed?

"Then aren't you glad Isabella came along? I know I am." sabi nito sa kaniya at napalunok naman ako habang nakatingin sa kanila.

Sophia shakes my hand through gritted teeth, crushing it in a vise--like grip. Hinila ko ang aking kamay ng tila humihigpit yon.

"I-It's good to meet you." sabi ko habang hawak ko ang kamay kong medyo nasaktan.

"Delighted." nakangising sabi nito at napaiwas naman ako ng tingin. She barely knows me, pero galit na agad siya sakin.

"Blake...ladies. Sorry for the interruption, but boss, your father needs you to come and speak with someone." sabi ni Eian dito na kinataas ng kilay ko, Blake ladies huh?

"Ah, ladies. I'll be right back." pagpapaalam nito at saka tumingin sa akin. "Isabella, will you be alright here...alone?" sabi nito at napatingin naman ako kay Sophia ng sandali.

"You're seriously leaving me here?!" mahinang tanong ko at hinawakan naman nito ang pisngi ko. "Duty calls, my love." sabi nito. Blake leans in with a tender smile, and kisses my forehead. The feel of his warm lips sends a surge through me.

Umalis na nga ito at napasunod nalang ako ng tingin dito. "Looks like Blake's taste in women is declining. He's often a lot pickier." sabi nito at napaliit ang tingin ko sa kaniya. "Excuse me?!" Lumapit to sa akin at hinawakan ang balikat ko at mahinang bumulong.

"Oh, honey..Why the surprise? You clearly don't belong here. I mean, you couldn't even bother to dress the part. It's quite pathetic." sabi nito saka tumawa ng mahina.

"Pathetic?" sabi ko saka tumawa sa kaniya "Talagang sinasabi sa akin na isa akong pathetic ng taong umaatake sa isang estranghero dahil lamang sa suot nito. Focus on yourself!" inis kong sabi dito.

"I'm sorry, pero hindi ko talaga masabi kung ang outfit mo ba o ang pagmumukha mo ang pangit." natatawang sabi nito.

"Are you finished?!" inis kong tanong dito.

"Oh, I could go on all night about the many women Alexandro drags along to fancy events like this, but I'm sure you get the picture." sabi lang nito habang ako nakacross arms lang nakikinig sa mga jealousy ranting nito. "I give him a month before he gets bored of you and tosses you like the trash you really are." sabi nito at napakamot naman ako sa gilid ng tainga ko saka huminga ng malalim at ngumiti sa kaniya.
