New Friend.
We expect nothing but recognition and a sense of belonging but that only happens when you find someone you bond with.

They looked down at me, confused at who I was.
Annabelle smiling at the boys, motioning for them to say something.
“Who is she?” one of the boys mouthed but Annabelle just places her two hands on her face in Frustration.

“Hi” jace said out with a smirk on his face.
“And if I may ask, what is a beautiful girl… I mean you… What are you doing in this pack?”

“She’s my friend,” Annabelle interjects.
“Her name is Maya”

At the mention of this, their mouths hung up, giving flies the easiest access to enter.

“What???” A boy with brown curly hair let out. His eyes wide open, his green orbs very visible.

“Like the girl in black hoodie?” Another boy says, falling to the floor.

“Calm down already!” Annabelle let out.

“It’s not like she’s going to hurt anyone Bryan and Jeremiah, get your butt off the floor and stop being so Dramatic.”

They all relax immediately.

Annabelle drags Jace to my front, tapping his head softly.
“Here Maya, is my cranky best friend Jace” She says, giving Jace a smug face. “And the other” pointing to Bryan “Is Bryan, he’s a little bit cheesy but you can count on him as the fateful one.”
Looking at the boy who fainted earlier, smiling at him. “Jeremiah, he’s very shy but it’s kinda cute” she said, stressing the last word.

“About the bonfire tonight, are you in for it?” Jace asks, directing the question at me.

I looked confused, looking at Annabelle, begging for help.

“What’s a bonfire?” I asked. I knew what a bonfire was in human terms but I didn’t know if it was different for werewolves.

“Are you kidding me?!!?” she said, which was more of statement than a question.

“You wouldn’t blame me though, I lived most of my life as a lone wolf”

“Ooh” they all mouthed.

“A bonfire night is a traditional celebration,” Annabelle explains.

“It’s when we celebrate our victory over fire. Before, fire feared werewolves, when a human, the first werewolf hunter ‘Smith leo’ discovered it as a means to hurt us but Ruth Waals, a strong female warrior encouraged all of us that we are a lot stronger than the fire. She helped our kind see that we are made for a much better purpose,” Jace added

“And now we see fire as a peaceful part of our life. We see it as irresistible, majestic, beautiful and romantic. We have feared it, welcomed its warmth and harnessed its power and now it has become part of us.” Bryan recited like it was a poem while Jeremiah stood still, watching dramatic Bryan.

“I think I would give it a try,” I chipped in.

“Tonight we roll!” Annabelle said excitedly. She pinched the three boys and while they moan in pain, she drags me with her.

“Where are you taking me to now?” I asked

“Just to get ready” she blurted.

“It’s five o’clock Anna,”

“Anna huh… I like that name”

“Don’t try to change the topic silly” I scoffed.

“Catch me if you can” she challenged before she started running while I chased after her. I’ve known Anna for barely a day and it seems as if we’ve known each from child birth, like a sister to me or rather, a very cheesy friend. She’s really down to earth and easy going. She reminds me of Axina.
‘I miss her already’.
