His story.
I didn’t move from where I was. I was too weak to even think of anything. I looked at Shelley who was in front of me, she looked peaceful from the outside but one would still know that she was fighting really hard for her life. If it was an omega or any other wolf, It wouldn’t take long before she would loose her life. She had Lycan blood, her mother was a Lycan while her father, a warrior wolf.
I held her little fragile hands in mine, removed the strand of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ears. I wish I could do something, something that will wake her up from this nightmare.
“I know you’re there Ley but if you can hear me, please wake up. Just wake up Ley not for me but for your cousin, I don’t know what he’ll do if he looses you,”
The tears fell freely down my cheeks, I was scared, each time the breeze blew the curtain to the other end, it’ll rain shivers down my spine. I was still trapped in that well, with nowhere to go. I wiped the tears from my face and before I stood up, I pecked her forehead and said a little prayer in mind.
“Maya!” Anna’s uneven voice startled me. She still looked pale while Diana walked behind her.
“Anna, I’m so sorry, she’s-“ Diana turned to look at me and with the look she gave me, I understood that talking or saying anything wouldn’t make it better.
“You don’t have to. She’ll be alright,” She faked a smile.
“I’ll check on her now,” Diana excused herself. I hugged Anna, the tears falling freely down her cheeks.
“She’ll be okay,” I reassured. I released her from the hug and held both her hands in mine.
“The mothers love,” I started.
“Dear Selene, the moon that shines bright on this house hold, heal us and clean us. Save us from the destruction that Waits on our door, heal, cleanse and wash we pray thee,” we both recited
“She only,” I said “She only,” Anna repeated. I hugged her one last time before I excused myself, leaving her with Diana.
The image of Shelley lying on her bed, helpless didn’t leave my mind. The crowd outside didn’t help. Some of the injured were already bandaged. They all looked shaken and frightened that they were unable to move from where they stood.
Roux was on the other end all by himself. I thought of going to meet him but was also scared of how he may react. With my mind in another direction of its own, my legs moved and when I had come to realization, I was standing right in front of him. I wanted to say something but before I could even think of it, he was already leaving. I went on to hold his hand which must have been stupid of me but the force at which he pulled his hands away from mine shattered something but it didn’t stop me. I went after him again.
“Please hear me out, I’m sorry,” I pleaded, running to meet him but he pushed me away from him. He wasn’t himself, the look he had was really frightening like his heart was frozen in an unbreakable ice.
“Leave me, you are free to leave. I don’t have any need of you, you’ve already done enough!” His voice thundered, All eyes were on the both of us. The place was no longer quiet or sober, it was filled with whispers. I didn’t care much about what they talked about but Roux words kept ringing in my ears. He didn’t want me, he hates me now.
He left without sparing me a glance while I stood still, frozen in my spot with the unending pain I felt in my chest. My head was throbbing, I clutched my chest, the unending outburst soaking my dress.
I could hear them clearly now, they were confused, didn’t know what was going on. The elderly ones didn’t say much but the younger ones had a lot to talk about.
“She definitely deserves it, it fits her for always throwing herself at the Alpha,”
“She’s so shameless, shamelessly going after him after he had rejected her and even in a time like this,”
“What if they’re mates,”
“I don’t think so, if they are, she would have been marked by now.”
Their words were no longer whispers, it was like a meeting, where everyone gave their own opinion. It didn’t matter to me, none of those did.
“E-n-ough” Anna’s voice echoed. It was clear in the tone of her voice that she was annoyed. The pack members where shocked, even the elderly stood where they were. The sound of Anna’s hands on someone’s face was very loud that I was stunned from where I was.
“If you don’t want your head on the floor, just shut up!” She yelled at the girl who’s words were suddenly stuck in her throat. She was too shocked to even bat an eyelash.
“You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Your loved ones are injured, some in critical situation and many are dead but you still have the time to gossip and talk ill about someone who has done nothing wrong… “
They were all quiet, listening to Anna while Diana came to where I was with her eldest daughter.
“She’s my brothers mate and your future Luna. Show her some respect atleast… “
With that, they all began to murmur amongst themselves. Some turned to my direction while the others dwelled on themselves. I followed Diana back to her home, Anna followed as well.
I was seated quietly with Anna by my side. Diana had gone inside to get something while Zia went on an errand. She had a stern look on her face but she relaxed after I had called her name.
“You want to say something?” She asked, her attention now on me.
“Yes,” I replied. “But promise me you wouldn’t get mad or leave me all by myself afterwards,”
She was confused as she didn’t know where this was coming from. Her hands subconsciously went on her head, she scratched it a little before it went back on her laps. “I promise,” She reassured.
I inhaled deeply before I started.
“I’m Ralia… My real name is Ralia not Maya,” I said, waiting for her reaction. The stern look on her face returned. She let out a long sigh before she turned her attention back at me.
“You’re Ralia, like Ralia Dimian?”
She asked, unsure of where I was heading. I nodded my head and slowly, streaks of white hair started appearing before it filled my hair completely.
“I’m so sorry I kept this from-“ before I could complete my sentence, she engulfed me in a hug, one that was warm and reassuring.
“You don’t have to be sorry for being you. You had no other choice, you couldn’t risk it and I would have done the same if I were you,” she affirmed.
“It’s my fault, if I hadn’t come here, you all wouldn’t suffer and Shelley wouldn’t be the way she is now, Roux wouldn’t be…”
“Shush,” she stopped. “Do not blame yourself. I understand Roux’s anger but it’s not your fault, you didn’t choose this fate, You should pull yourself back in, Diana would catch your scent and would also find it fishy, I guess she already has, we’ll just find a cover story… “
“That wouldn’t be necessary,” I interrupted. “She already knows, I didn’t tell her though…”
“Who else knows?” She asked.
“Axina, Diana, Maria, Zia, Samuel and now, you and Roux,” I answered.
“1,2,3,4,5,6,7, That’s a lot… “ She counted with her hands and just then, Diana entered.
“Diana is here, I’ll leave you two to it,” She said before she left.
Diana filled up Anna’s space, the expression on her face unchanging. “Anna knows now and my guess is that, Roux found out as well,” I nodded.
“For some reason, he’s really pissed, his cousin and everything, I think it’s all my fault,” I expressed. She gave me a reassuring smile, one that says everything would be okay.
“Don’t worry, he’ll come around. I think he feels the same way he feels then,” She explained
“How did he feel then?” I asked, unsure of what she was talking about.
“Roux didn’t grow up like the other kids, his parents were not mates, they were only mated for political reasons. His mother, Airini was very kind and compassionate, she gave her best to Gilliam but all the efforts she put in wasn’t enough. Eventually, she got pregnant and had Roux. He gave her hope and brought colours back to her life. She loved him with everything she had but Roux wasn’t enough for his father. He was handled roughly and treated like an outsider…”
“His father wouldn’t give him warmth or care, if he disobeys one of the rules, he’s wiped and punished. With this, Roux grew closer to his mother and farther away from his father. When his mother died, it was a turning point for him. His world crumbled and he grew cold. He hated his father and the new woman he was mated to but his love for his sister was unchanging. She was the only thing left that reminded him of his mother. It all happened without warning, the day Roux had killed his father and stepmother. It was news for all of the were kind for a young boy to kill the Lycan king. He took the throne for himself and killed anyone who dared to cross his part, giving dark moon it’s gruesome history,”
I shivered at the thought of him as a child or a young boy, making history for himself.
“I don’t think he’s angry at you for being you, it’s because you weren’t honest with him, he thinks that you don’t trust him and find him incompetent the way his father did, he’s suffering in silence and beating himself up for not being good enough. He blames himself for Shelley’s predicament,” She explained.
“Do you think he’s going to come around?” I asked Diana, hoping that her reply would be something favourable.
“Don’t worry yourself, he certainly will, he won’t be able to resist the mate pull no matter how angry he may be,” She answered with a smile on face.
