I woke to find Anna snuggled beside me and very much asleep. I tapped her a couple of times but she didn’t wake so I ended up leaving her. I move to the window, leaving it open while I feel the early morning breeze on my face. I place my hands on my chin thinking about how the day would go and what it actually holds.

“You know, if you stay out there for too long, your head would fall off”

I turn back to look Anna who had suddenly risen from the land of dreams.

“And what if I want it to”

Without saying anything, she looks at me like I’m some sort of psycho. She lazily drags herself out of the bed. She had her hands on her hair, packing it up in a dough.

“Then I’ll have to excuse myself if you want to go on like this… “

Without any reply from me, she drags herself down to the door. Before she opens it, she turns back to me as if she’s forgotten something.

“Good morning Maya!” She winks at me before she finally leaves the room.

I leave from the position I was in earlier, suddenly finding myself on the bed.

“Today would be a good day for a nice cup of coffee” I say to myself, face flat on the bed.

“And a coffee it would be” A rusky voice interrupted forcing me up from the bed.

“Dylan!” I call out happily before I hug my brother who was suddenly by the side of my bed.

“Ra… Umm … Maya” I knew it was hard for my brother, having to keep my identity a secret and on the other hand, pretending like we’re strangers.

He hugged me back for the moment before I was released.

“Your room looks really well” He said, his eyes searching the nook and cranny of my room, more like examining it.

“Thank you.”

“Did you meet Anna on your way here?” I asked, my feet moving briskly to the door to check if it was locked.

My brother looked at me with an emotion I can’t really explain. His hands were placed firmly inside his pocket. His sea blue eyes, that was very much like mine, blended well with his hair.

“I didn’t but I caught her scent. I was extra careful so you don’t have to worry about anything” He said before he relaxed on my bed.

I know he was worrying because I am.

“I really hate the fact that I have to lie to everyone”

“You don’t have to blame yourself. With time, it’ll be better” He said while I forced a smile on my face. I went to seat beside him, staring at him awkwardly and when he caught me, my smile grew so wide that my eyes fell out of place.

“You okay?” He asked.

“I am. It’s just that your face is… Well, just normal. Void of any emotions like you’re not really here”

“Really?” He asked surprised

“Of course. You just made me remember when we were kids. When I would use both my hands, waving at you but your face still remained still before I would use my pinky finger to pin your head and you’ll be like…”

“Lia stop it, I’m not on your level and then I’ll continue pinning your head before you’d stand up throw me on the bed and start tickling me”

He had a huge smile on his face while we chatted happily. I’m so happy he came.

“And then I’ll ask you what it’s like to have a mate but you look back at me with an expressionless face and the next minute, you’ll go back to tickling me. I wish time could move backwards D.”

“Don’t worry Lia, we’ll survive and eventually, everything will fall into place.”

“You think so?” I asked uncertain.

“I believe so” He said before he pinched my nose.

“That hurts you know, I’m not that little girl anymore. I won’t hesitate in tickling you”

“You wouldn’t try” He said, pinching my nose one last time. Not that it hurt or anything but I stood up from the bed and the next minute, my brother was at my back, tickling me before I could even try.

“I’m sorry D” I said in between breaths. It took a whole lot of strength to pin him down on the bed, I pinched his nose back and also tickled him so we could be even.

His hair was in a mess, so was mine. He smelt more like the forest and Vanilla.

“Anna is really lucky” I said teasingly. I didn’t mean it in any way but his cheeks were already caked pink.

“She told you?”

“Of course. What do you take me for. Buggy man Jnr. You wanted to hide it from me so I wouldn’t tease you, well, you’re already in my soup”

“I’ve told you before, don’t call me that”

“I think I’ll change the nick name. More like Anna’s pet”

“Why would you think of such a name”

“Because it suits you”

He had a slight frown on his face but it made him look cute, more like Anna’s pet.

We chatted a while longer before my brother left to his room and I headed down to the kitchen.

The women there had their eyes fixed on me. It got to the point that I couldn’t take it any longer.

I don’t like it at all, the air wasn’t comfortable, they were poking their nose in a business that wasn’t theirs.
The woman I saw the other day was also there. She had light blue knee length gown on with dark brown sandals.
Her hair was up in a dough.

She had her eyes trailing down at me every minute, while her hands were busy with the vegetables she was chopping. The other two checked the food on fire while they chatted, indirectly putting me in every conversation they had.

“Coralie come get the veggies”

“A minute Marie” Coralie had dark brown hair which was just left to fall. She wiped her forehead before she went to meet with the other girl who was murmuring unheard words to herself.

“Audrey, how ready is it?” Coralie asked the other girl with blonde hair.

“Almost, it tastes good but it would have been better if this bimbo wasn’t here”

I didn’t have to read much into what they said to know that they were talking about me.

I wanted to leave the moment I took the juice I came for but obviously, this ladies needs to know where they belong.

“Whatever, she’ll go anyways and the air around here will be a lot better. I wonder why she’s always pursuing alpha Roux. He obviously doesn’t like her. It won’t take long before she starts seducing alpha Dylan” Audrey expressed like I wasn’t there. The last part got me really irritated that I couldn’t stop myself from giving her a really hard slap.

“You should know your place pup. What goes on in my life doesn’t in anyway concern you…”

“Pup?” Marie asked annoyed while Audrey was still recovering to even utter another word.

“You’re saying know your place when you don’t even belong here, you’ve clearly overstayed your visit” Coralie joined in

“You’re an omega like us, you’re meant to be in the kitchen with us or out there cleaning…”

“She’s so… “

The tears started trailing down my cheeks. I didn’t know they hated me so much to say such awful things.

Before I could even run away or start throwing a tantrum, my head was placed on a hard chest, his chest, it wasn’t really hard but was comfortable. He stroked my head gently. I couldn’t really make out what he was saying but he was clearly angry. The protective part of him I’ve never seen before.

“If you have a problem with her then come directly to me, it’s an insult to me if you insult my mate. If I hear of this again, I won’t give a second thought before I throw you all out of here”

He glared at them angrily, while they cower, unable to meet his gaze.
