Grey eyes.
It’s her again.

“Hello” she voiced, waving her hands dramatically. Today she looked quite different, happier I guess. Her hair doesn’t look messy as it was before but her dressing didn’t change. She looked beautiful and that was the first time I was noticing it.

She kept pacing around the room as though she was clueless.

“What do you want now?” I asked impatiently, facing her head strong.

“Just came to check on you?” She said causally. I scrunched my noise in disbelief.

“You lie” I pointed out.

“I can read your mind” I stated but she reacted as though she knew I was only bluffing.

“What do you want and who are you?” I asked but she stared at me like I was an expressionless statue.

What’s it with her, what’s it with everyone. My life is so hectic and I’m tired of it. Aeris won’t even speak to me.

“Wondering why you can’t talk to your wolf?” she asked while I looked at her in disbelief. How does she know that and how does she always find her way to me.

“Who are you?” I asked again.

“You don’t really need to know,” she replied sharply.

“Please just tell me who you are and save me the stress from finding out. I’m not as strong as people imagine me to be, I’m just hiding away from the world I know won’t accept me.” I cried out pathetically.

“I’ll reveal myself in the right time. Just know I won’t hurt you, I’m a friend and you can trust me” she voiced out.

“TRUST” I spelt out.

“That word doesn’t exist in my dictionary, not anymore,”

I said painfully, remembering how the people I trusted destroyed my life. It ended the woman’s life who meant so much to me.

“Pleaseee” I pleaded but she didn’t say a word. She looked at me as though she could feel my pains. I looked up, holding myself from crying.

“Another time,” she said before she disappeared in thin air.

I collapsed my self on my bed, remembering the painful event.

Agniya Marfa was a girl in my pack who I thought to be my friend.

We were together on a sunny afternoon with other pack children playing. She detangle my hair before she kissed my forehead.

“We should go to the enchanted river” she told me

“Mother said it’s dangerous” I objected.

“Half of the river is outside the pack boarder” I explained.

“It’s not like we’re going to cross the boarder” she convinced.

“Agniya!!!” I called out to her but she gave deaf ears while I followed behind, running after her.

“Agniya” I called again before she turned to look at me smiling.

“Come on Ralia” she called, we ran together before we reached the enchanted river.

“We made it Ralia” Agniya said sweetly.

“Let’s go in Ralia, for a little while”

“I’m not going Agniya, I can’t disobey mother” I explained.

“But your mother isn’t here, she’s never coming back” Agniya ranted coldly.

“You don’t say that Agniya, my mother can’t just leave me, she’ll come, I know she will” I objected, using my hands to cover my face.

“I’m going Agniya” I told her before I started running off.

Agniya didn’t bother calling me back. She watched as I left and the next minute, the rogues came attacking. I ran back to the pack alerting everyone. Agniya stood still smiling before she whispered something to one of the rogues.

I didn’t bother calling her. I ran as my legs could carry me.

I ran left and right, unsure of where to go before I caught the scent of mother.

She was on the floor lifeless and I couldn’t stop the tears from falling…

Someone kept hitting the door continuously.

“Who’s that?” I yelled.

“It’s Anna” she replied before I dragged my self down to the door, unlocking it. Anna came crashing on me, crushing my bones.

“Go easy, it’s not like I was dead,” I said softly.

“Alright alright” she said before she lets go.

“you’ve been inside since 9:00, it’s 2:00 already and still you’ve not eaten. We could go to a restaurant if you like,” She suggested.

“I don’t want to and perhaps your brother won’t agree” I tried talking her out of it.

“His opinion doesn’t matter” she insisted.

“We’ll just sneak out and sneak in back. He’ll never know, he’s not even around.”

“I don’t want any problem with your brother that’s why I’m saying,”

“So is that a yes?” Anna asked with her hope high.

“Alright” I finally say.

“I’m not dressing up, I’m just going to go this way,” I stated.

“It’s still okay, we’re not going for a party.”

We snuck out of the pack house so Axina won’t see us and I felt kind of bad for not letting her know.

We escaped from the pack boarder, tricking the guards on duty. My hair didn’t change its colour because I hindered it and Anna was with me.

“We’ll have a great day” Anna whispered in my ear and I returned the gesture by smiling at her.
“Which restaurant?” I asked Anna.
“What do you like?” She asked me.
“As far as it’s food, I’m okay with it,” I told her.
“We’ll go to le grande, according to its name, the restaurant is very big, the best in this area.”

“If I may ask, how old are you?” I’ve been dying to ask her age right from when I heard she was Roux’s sister. I could easily guess Roux age from hers.

“I’m actually 325,” she tells me. To us immortals, I’ll say she’s still very young.

“That’s great to hear” I reply.

We finally made it out of the woods. The place was busy and the blaring car horns didn’t help. Humans passed by and I also caught scent of some lone wolves. We walked for a while before we finally reached the restaurant.

We sat down on the table the waiter had assigned to us. Few minutes later, he came back with what we requested for.

“What a kind gentleman” I told the young man before he shied away.

We chatted for the time being forgetting that the clock ticked fast.

“We need to start heading back Anna, it’s already 6:00pm”

“Alright” she agreed before we took our leave.

I looked at Anna while she returned my glance. Standing in front of us was her stoic brother ‘Roux’.

Today was certainly my worst day ever. When I thought the day would become better, it just turned out worse.

“I can explain Will” Anna pleaded, her brother’s eyes kept fixed on the both of us.

“Where were the both of you?” He demanded, his fist clenched. He was certainly angry and I’m still wondering if it was because of us or for a different reason.

“We went out for dinner Will” Anna snapped.

“You know one meal won’t hurt. I can defend myself. I’m no longer a baby.”

“You know the rules Anna, not just you but to keep our pack safe.” He yelled.

“We’ve been receiving rogue attacks and you tell me you are big enough. I’m trying my best Anna. The situation is getting worse and it’s time you know about it.”

“We’ve been under attacks and you didn’t bother hinting anyone” I cried out pathetically.

“It’s not like I decided not to tell anyone, I didn’t feel it was the right time and I didn’t want to bother anyone.” He protested.

“But I’m your… we should probably get back in Anna,” I croaked dryly, taking Anna’s hand forcefully back to the pack house.

The tears that clouded my visions fell freely and I was really bad at hiding it. Thankfully, the hallway was empty.

“You don’t have to Maya, it’s all my fault. I should have left you all by your self. I was being an idiot, I’m terribly sorry” Anna pleaded.

“It’s okay Anna, it’s not your fault. You tried to cheer me up and you made a good attempt” I objected hugging Anna which caught her off guard.

“Good night Anna” I whispered and I knew she could hear me.

I released her from the hug and her golden orbs stared back at mine.

“I know deep down that you are special, special enough for my brother,” she commented. “Good night Maya!” she finally said before she went off to her path and I went mine.

I opened my room door slowly and I sighed in relief when I sighted Axina deep asleep.

I tiptoed to my side of the bed and laid silently. I couldn’t sleep, my eyes were kept fixed on the ceiling, my mind drifting.

I looked at the other direction, the wind was strong enough to push the curtain to the other side. I laid fixed on my position, lazy to get off from the bed.

It was certainly too early to sleep and I was wondering why Axina was asleep already.

The thought of rogues attacking came fresh on my mind. What do they really want? Was a question I was not sure I knew the answer to but one thing was clear, it really did bother me.

I turn my body from left to right, feeling uneasy and my eyelids heavy before I finally gave in to the sound of sleep.

“Stop!! Stop!!” I cried heartily but the scary looking man won’t leave me alone.

I managed to get on my feet but he followed after me.

“Come back here brat” he said impatiently running after me.

I fell to the floor, my head flat. I moaned in pain, trying to get up before the man caught me by my hair.

“Stop!! Stop!!, it hurts” I cried but the scary looking man gave deaf ears.

I was only sixteen, I’ve been running all my life from a place that screams death and chaos.

The ugly situation those men kept me in.

The man turned me so I could face him before he gave me a painful slap on my face. I held my cheeks and he kept on dragging my hair.

“What did I ever do!” I demanded but he held me high and threw me to the floor. My bones break in multiple places and it was impossible to get up from the floor.

“Just do as I say,” he demanded

“But I don’t want to, everyone thinks I’m dead so kill me instead.” I pleaded.

“You’ll be dead and it will all be true” he taunted.

“Get up!” He commanded

“Kill me so I can be with my mama!” I yelled.

He looked at me angrily and I was afraid he was going to attack again.

“We are many, no ordinary rogue,”

I opened my eyes, sweating profusely. That dream was actually a real life event that happened when I was still very young. I wonder why I dreamt. Is it a warning, are they still coming after me?

They had dealt with me for a whole year and I devised an escape plan when I turned sixteen.

The moon goddess taught me manipulation and I manipulated them so they would think they killed me. I was successful and was thinking of a hideout before my human mother saw me.

That was long ago and thinking of those events is as though they are happening real.

Axina turned to look at me and I sat up immediately. “You scared me” I accused looking at her. She sat up as well scanning my expression. “Night mare?” she asked and I nodded.

“Want to talk about it?” she offered but the look on my face said no.

“Where were you?” she asked again and I could tell she was still feeling sleepy.
“Just went out with Anna” I began.

“Tomorrow is another day” she mentioned before she bounced on the bed drifting to sleep and I just sat wondering to myself of what a best friend she was. “sleep well” I whispered in her ear if at all she could hear before I turned to my side, drifting to sleep as well.
