Birthday party.
The joyous occasion, remembering the day you were born.Diana stopped midway and turned to my direction. She came after me. “Are you okay?” she asked.
“I’m definitely not” I replied
“my wolf’s surfacing, I need to shift” I told her. She turned to the side of the forest and then started sniffing.
“Get yourself together” she told me.
“We’ll see after the party. You just have to hold it up a little longer,” she advised and then I nodded my head.
I started practicing the breathing exercise that I had adjusted to all my life. I didn’t feel any better. I don’t really know how much longer I could hold my wolf in.
“let’s go” Diana nudged and I did as she said. Walking steadily until her house was visible, faint sounds of my name being called out and after a while it died.
“Diana” I called out to her again.
“Are you coming for the party tonight?”
“I don’t think so but I’ll send Zia to you when I’ve arranged everything” she said and I gave her an appreciative smile.
We finally reached Diana’s place only to find Zia still with her book. At the sight of us, she ran immediately to hug her mother.
“You took some time out there mam, I was really worried,” she said to her mom, evidence of worry plastered on her face. I could still hear the racing of her heart beat.
“Sorry Miss Maya.” She apologized but I didn’t really know why she did.
“I thought otherwise. Miss Annabelle came for you, she said it was urgent” she explained.
Without another word from Zia, I left immediately, moving as fast as my legs could carry me.
It was already late and I was sure she was going to be mad at me. It’s not entirely my fault though.
I’m not even dressed and I haven’t even thought of a befitting birthday gift.
Walking steadily, the sound of blazing music filled my senses. It was dark and the place was already surrounded by wolves drinking, shouting and dancing.
No one told me the party was supposed to be all over the place. I had to push my way in before I reached for the hallway which was a little bit calmer than the outside.
I counted my steps to the room, entering the room before I closed the door. I removed my clothes immediately before I did the unimaginable, flinging my body on my bed, breathing in the cool breeze and roses.
Roses?
I didn’t have any rose perfume or air freshener. Someone must have been here though.I stood up immediately, searching for any trace of rose or where the scent was coming from.
“Aha” I said, when I got hold of a petal of rose that hid under my bed. I bent my head to take a look if there was more and to my surprise, I saw flowers, petals of flowers purposely plucked by someone.
I brought it all out from the bed with my hands before something caught my attention.
“Tonight you dance with me” was written beautiful on a small piece of paper but who was this from and why would they not save me the stress of finding it.
They would have gone by the rule and simply drop the flower and the letter by my desk.
“No name” I said to myself subconsciously before I rummaged my wardrobe for what to wear.
The black flare gown by the side caught my eyes and I took hold of it immediately.
I dashed out of my room, fully dressed in the black gown, dangling earrings and buckle up silver sandals.
My hair was left in a dough and I didn’t forget to line my eyes and a little bit of mascara on my eyelashes.I walked steadily and immediately, I rushed back to the room, I headed straight to the wardrobe and I took the medium sized box that lay silently.
I ran out of the room, following the blazing music down outside.
By the side, I caught a couple of people who practically sucked each other shamelessly.“This party is something else” I murmured to my self.
I said more than a thousand excuse me, trying to find Anna.
It was really tiring, I didn’t really use my senses before she tapped me slightly.“Anna” I said before I turned to where she was and before I could say another word, she hugged me. I was really happy she wasn’t drinking and she looked so beautiful.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you” she said disheartened, her hands still clustered loosely on my body.
“I’m really sorry I didn’t come on time and you had to look for me”
I apologized.“It’s okay” she said after she had released me from the hug.
“I got you something” I said before I gave her the black flowery coloured box. Her smile grew so wide that she hugged me again.
“By the way, you look freaking Amazing” I complimented.
“Thanks a lot Maya, you’re the best” she expressed.
I took my time to take in the glory of Anna’s dress. It was so beautiful, her hair was left to fall in curls that matched perfectly with her bright green gown that fell to her feet. It plastered on her body with a very long slit by the side.
“Are you going to dance with me?” Anna asked, stealing me to the dance floor. She felt so alive shaking and moving her body in different rhythms.
“You know Maya, I’m so happy today” she said happily, dancing joyfully.
We kept it going for sometime before a certain someone dragged me to his chest. Scared to look at him, I kept my eyes fixed on his feet.
The rhythm of the music changed immediately to a soft tune. I watched where I kept my feet, following every step he took. Clung to him, I could hear the steady rising and falling of his chest.
“Maya” his deep voice interrupted from my unending thoughts.
“Look at me” he said and I was obliged to do so. I couldn’t keep it long and immediately, my eyes landed back on his feet.
My whole body was on fire, the spark from his touch and every move igniting the fire burning inside of me.
“I want to ask you something?”
He said, his gaze fixed on mine.“Go on” I said
“Where were you all day?” He asked and before I could answer, a guard or would I say, a beta wolf came up to us.
“Sorry to disturb you but the pack oracle needs the both of you,”
