Shift.
The ability to transform into something different.

“What are you doing here?” He asked, his voice deep yet relaxed. My brain was too slow to think of any reasonably thing and the fact I was bad at lying came ringing in my ears.

“I .. uh… I was…. Looking for…um I was just walking around” I managed to say.

“You were just walking around and you managed to find the most cherished statue which is considered to be linked with the dead.” He voiced out amusingly and I was slightly grateful that he didn’t find it weird that I just roamed around.

“Tell me more,” I said my chest rising and falling. Afraid that he was going to decline.

He looked at me for a while before he started.
“The answer is really simple. The statue was built years ago by the first lycan shape shifter. He was buried there and It was believed to be linked with the dead. Most witches and oracles with great power go there to consult the dead.”

“It’s really fascinating” I said, little bit relieved.

“You should go back to the pack, it’s not safe out here.” He said all of a sudden, back to his expressionless self.

I didn’t find myself arguing with him and asking further questions, instead, I went back feeling more than happy that I saw my mother today.
I met Axina standing in front of the room door. She yawned, stretching her hands, her drooping eyes on me.

Looks like someone has been sleeping for a while now.

“Maya” she called tiredly, scrubbing her eyes.

“Where have you been” she asked disinterested before she yawns again.

“Just went on a stroll. I wanted to see more of dark moon,”

Wait, this excuse is really dumb but it wasn’t necessarily a lie. I did stroll, didn’t I?

Telling Axina about my experience wouldn’t be the right option for now.

“Oh… Okay” she replied heading back to the room while I followed behind. She flung her self on the bed immediately and I was sure she had already drifted to sleep.

I headed to my wardrobe again and couldn’t just push the thought of the book aside.

What’s even wrong with me, I’m definitely a psycho now. I stopped midway, taking a good look at my self in the mirror. I touched my cheeks and then my hair. I didn’t look healthy, I’m not living healthily. I can’t even remember the last time I shifted.

But the fact is, shifting in this pack is not a good idea. What if I get caught and then they’ll be after me again.

Trying is what I should do.

The night came quicker than I expected.

I tiptoed out of the room immediately, running straight to the woods. The pack house is eerily quiet, the other buildings around didn’t catch much of my attention. The pack house is mainly occupied by the alpha king and queen, Beta and the workers.

Buildings are spread across the pack, few metres away from the pack house, belonging to pack members.

That’s how it is in the other packs but dark moon is the biggest pack and have the biggest pack house.

I kept running deeper into the woods. I should be scared but I didn’t know where the boost of confidence came from.

I stopped, looking around, sniffing the surroundings inorder to safeguard the area.

Slowly, I started removing my clothes and I kept them neatly by the side.

My bones started cracking and rebuilding, white fur sprout, sharp fangs and claws came in place. I shifted to my beautiful white wolf.

I had mastered my shifting making it seem ordinary. Floating in thin air will make my scent more pronounced and I don’t want to take chances. I ran very fast and deeper into the woods but the ecstasy was short spent when I caught a scent and I was sure it belonged to someone from the pack.

I started running but the scent followed, this is was not in any way good.

Who could it be

My life is a hell, where do I run to. Today started perfectly well and I’m not sure what the ending holds.

I was still running, the scent kept following me. No idea was coming to my mind on how to escape.

I didn’t know which of my powers that could help. The magic was itching inside of me but one wrong turn was going to put my life in jeopardy. I controlled the elements and I haven’t mastered it yet, I only know how to make full potential of earth.

This is really bad.

I stopped midway, thinking the best thing to do was shift back to my human self.

Bad news, I left my clothes on the other end.

I just hope the person doesn’t find it. I climb up to the tree immediately.

The place was dark and really hard to see, it was indeed good. Lycans have advanced visions but for werewolves, it’s only when they’re in wolf form.

I withdrew all of my scent. This was really hard to do. I neither smelt of wolf or human but like the tree.

I watched from the top, a wolf which I couldn’t recognize but from the scent, I knew it’s a gamma, a warrior gamma. It sniffed the area I was in earlier, becoming clueless all of a sudden before the werewolf started running back.

I wish I could erase memories but who knows the limits of my powers, I haven’t mastered it.

I came down after some minutes, sure enough that the man has gone back to the pack house. I was all alone in the woods, I wonder what the time might be, I shouldn’t be scared. I’m no human but a wild animal. I hurriedly went to take my clothes when I sighted it from afar, not wasting any second in wearing it.

I sat down in the middle of the woods, pondering if I should go back to the pack house or remain where I was.

I finally ended up sleeping there, drifting further from the actual world.

“Little brat shut your mouth” the angry looking man yelled and I too was scared to look at him.

“I won’t keep quiet, I want to go home, I want to meet my father, I still want a mate that would love me” I yelled, tears streaming down my cheeks.

“I said shut up” the man ordered, growing angrier.

“What difference would it make if I kept quiet or made noise, you’ve left me in this dark room for a while now and refuse to give me any answer why I’m here” I replied, my throat laced with hatred and anger.

He came closer to me, squeezing my jaw. I struggled to talk but I couldn’t. He held the knife right in front of me, he pierced it on my hand forcedly making me moan in pain, I couldn’t hold back the tears. My clothes was soaking wet from the blood already. He used the knife to tear my back, I wailed in pain. He let go of my cheeks and I couldn’t just help it but cry out.

He came back again with a white material. He tied my mouth tightly, I still struggled but this time around, he was pointing the knife to my neck. I couldn’t shout with the material that was tied on my mouth. He was still bringing the knife closer.

I jerked all of a sudden from the floor, my chest pounding really hard, sweating profusely. I looked at my surrounding and it seemed like the sky was getting clearer.

Another nightmare yet again.
