Mate.
Interconnected thread  that binds two for a life time.

Blend of Rosewood, warm breeze and cinnamon was wafted through my nostrils. The scent was so intoxicating, the most beautiful I have ever smelt. I wanted to move but I couldn’t because of those men, their stoic expression kept fixed on mine.

The scent became more pronounced and it dawned on me when the person which it belonged to was standing right in front of me.

‘Mate’ Aeris said at the back of my head.

The tall figure that stood in front of me was made in perfection. His eyes had the ability to crush ones soul on first impact. His whole presence screamed power.

His face wore no expression. He stared at me with the most beautiful brown eyes you would be lost in forever, Mine was blue but it didn’t matter anyways.

“Alpha Roux” James said flatly, bowing down his head in respect. Tyvrik did the same as well.

I bent my head as well to show respect, feeling the blood in my veins quicken and the saliva in my mouth run dry.

“It shouldn’t be” I said out almost loudly. I didn’t want this, mate and the idea of belonging to someone but he’s not just anyone and that’s the threat that my body recognizes. One word or even a slight mistake and the whole world would come to know about me.

“Your name?” Alpha Roux requested with authority which sent shivers down my spine. His voice was a perfect balance of deep but yet calm. He was tall, probably a foot taller than me. His hair was dark brown which blended well with his dark brown eyes.

He looked at me, with nothing to behold his gaze. No slight hint or a flicker of emotion in them. I stared back in shock, trying to find something but I found nothing, just those brown crystals staring back at me.

“It’s Maya Arlo,” I gave my fake name, something that I had gotten used to but to him, I felt bad hearing as the words roll swiftly out of my mouth.

“Maya” Alpha Roux said to himself.

“Take her in and show her to a room” Alpha Roux commanded which kept James and Tyvrik in wonder. They sure would be shocked, some random girl trespasses and The Lycan King who never spares anyone just let her in.

I walked down the hallway with Tyvrik and James. The pack house I guess, It looked beautiful and can’t be compared to the one back home, it wasn’t what I imagined it to be, It was far beyond my imagination, something I can’t even put into words. I received different glances, some curiosity while I couldn’t point out what the rest felt.

Typical pack members for you. I know they have questions running in their head, who I am? And what I am doing in their pack house?
For most girls, I would be a problem as I looked undeniably beautiful but they couldn’t see beyond the hoodie

“Here is the spare key” Tyvrik acknowledged, handing the key. He opened the door leading me into an average sized bedroom. Everything perfectly normal.

Bed, wardrobe, bathroom, reading desk, a big mirror with small drawer and a chair which if I’m not mistaken is the make-up table.

I settled my self in, battling with my thoughts. I didn’t have clothes to wear but it didn’t matter. I was in big trouble for sure.

Tyvrik cleared his throat, making it known that he was still there.

“Oh, I’m really sorry” I muttered turning to face Tyvrik.

“Don’t mind me, I’m just so used to zoning out that I forget about everything happening in the actual world. Thank You!” I said to him with my thoughts still drifting.

“It’s a pleasure” Tyvrik replied. He stood for a second before he left me by myself, closing the door.

It was just a bit of wonder how everything was happening so fast. My life was perfectly normal not like really normal but okay and the next I’m in a really big mess.

I was facing the wardrobe when someone tapped my shoulders slightly. I jerked all of a sudden.

I just got here and I don’t know anyone. Maybe it’s a friend but I don’t have time for friends and I’m not good at making one. Whoever the person might be must be very sneaky because I didn’t even hear the door slam, didn’t catch any scent either. I turned back slowly, only to be met with sea blue eyes, someone I had known before. “Axi…” I said, not completing the word, when suddenly, warm hands covered my mouth.

She lets go slowly. “Don’t shout” she whispered. She slowly moved to the door, putting her head out, safeguarding the area. She puts her head in before she turns the key, locking the door.

“How did you manage to…”

“don’t say,” she cut me off. “It’s a long story, I’ll explain later but we have to go,”

“But why and to where?” I ask again with my eyes searching for answers.

“You ask way too many questions, Ra….em Maya” she said after clearing her throat. “Sorry about that” she finished.

Rubbing her hands together, we were both out, we disappeared in thin air only to find ourselves in a deserted area. This is the second time this has happened.

First was when I , “Maya” Axina called, drifting my attention from my daydream.

“We’re we heading to,” I say in a confused tone.

“Just follow me,” Axina reassures.

My thoughts Couldn’t be firm. I followed Axina still thinking about the chaos we’ve caused back in dark moon.

I know for sure that alpha Roux of dark moon would send his warriors searching for me. What if they find me and discover that I’m Ralia. No way, I can’t let that happen but at least I’m sure before we escaped, Axina was really prepared and had a better reason for it.

“Axina wait for me!” I called out to her but she didn’t slow down, not even for a minute.

The journey ahead should be very far because we’ve been walking for what felt like ages.

Axina is a good friend and literally the only one that knows about my secret.

I didn’t really tell her but she found out all on her own , I couldn’t lie or deceive her nose because of where she came from ‘New Zealand northern pack’ . Her people are gifted with incredible sense of smell, more functional than that of the average werewolf.

I looked forward, Axina came to a stop.

“What is it?” I asked

“We’ve arrived” She replied.
I watched Axina move closer to the building in front which had a comfy look but it smelt strange.

“Come on Maya,”

We kept knocking before a woman, who looked to be around forty with red scattered wavy hair came out and I could tell right away that she was the witch Axina stayed.

She hugged the both of us which caught me off guard and I stiffened on her embrace.

“Come on in” Maria requested.

We both entered inside. I stood by the side with Maria admiring the simplicity of her home with fine architecture before Axina dragged me with her, up the stairs to her room. She looked at me for a while probably thinking of some form of sarcastic remark or just being her usual self with all the weirdness. “It’s been a while Maya,” She smiled. “You haven’t even changed a bit. Still the same poker face,” she tried to demonstrate how I looked but she failed miserably, laughing every time she tried.

She excused herself and left from the position she was in, coming back with a pair of black trousers, white shirt and matching boot. I looked at the clothe and then at her. “What for?” I asked
“We’re going out. A party,” She said without batting an eyelash.

I didn’t bother her with any other question. I got dressed and waited for her to apply her makeup. Knowing Axina, even if I do not want to go, she’ll still find a way to convince me and drag me to the party. We both went down the stairs. Axina pecked Maria goodbye. “Do not worry Maria, I’ll be back on time,” she said
“Take care Maria!”

“I’ll say the same for you too. Be back safely,” She replied before we left for the party.
