Thank you so much @theshortking for the request!!
Sam's driving home from the bar. He's had a little to drink, but he's in much better shape than his passed out brother in the passenger seat.
Suddenly, Sam turns the music down and swerves a little, making the cop car behind him flash on his blue lights. Sam groans, pulling off to the right side of the road. He rolls his window down and reaches over Dean's knees to grab his registration.
The cop walks up to the car and Sam's eyes go wide when he says, "license and registration."
Sam looks up at him and silently hands him the paper and license. The cop looks down at it and looks back up at Sam. "Sammy?" He asks, breathless.
"Hey Gabe." Sam says, smiling. "How have you been?" Sam asks, remembering Gabe's gorgeous smile as he shows it.
"I've been good, what about you?" Gabe asks, handing back Sam's license and registration.
"I'm alright." Sam says, looking Gabe up and down. "So, cop, huh?" Sam asks, smiling.
"Yeah, either cop or jail." Gabe says, laughing. He puts away the ticket he was about to write Sam, and smiles.
"What'd you do?" Sam asks, laughing. He knew Gabe was trouble back then.
"Hacked the FBI watch list 'cause I got bored." Gabe shrugs. Sam laughs louder and puts his hand on the window, accidentally putting it on top of Gabe's. They both go quiet and move their hands away from one another's, now sitting beside each other.
The two used to date, back in college. They did practically everything together, nothing short of falling in love. They were best friends who could do anything together and never be ashamed.
"We should hang out.. um catch up, you know?" Gabe suggests, pinky finger moving back on top of Sam's. Sam smiles, looks down at the two's hands, and nods.
"That'd be nice. I'll text you when I get home, okay?" Sam says, pulling his hand back into the car.
"Yeah, still got my number?" Gabe asks, eyebrow raising. He's obviously flirting, and Sam isn't complaining.
"No, but I know it." Sam says, smiling.
"Good, text me. Be safe, Sam. No more swerving." Gabe says, stepping back.
"Bossy, as always." Sam says, making Gabe laugh as he walks back to his car.
"You know it!" Gabe yells back, stepping into his car and pulling off. Sam smiles as he rolls up his window, pulling off as well. When he drives the rest of the way home and gets Dean in bed, he lays down, typing Gabe's phone number from memory.
'Hey Gabe, its Sam.' Sam sends.
'Heya Sammy.' Gabe replies, smiling.
'Been a while, hasn't it?' Sam says, rolling onto his side on his bed, the side where Gabe spent most nights.
'Yeah. Sorry to be so straightforward, but are you seeing anyone?' Gabe asks, blushing. It's like they're back at the beginning.
'Not at the moment, why? Wanting to change that again?' Sam asks, smiling into the pillow that he's pulled to his chest.
'Depends. Can we move past what happened?' Gabe asks, remembering back to the reason they broke up. Gabe got drunk one night and went into the wrong dorm room at college and ended up sleeping with a guy who looked just like Sam. In the morning, when he woke up, he was freaking out. He was in someone else's bed and with a Sam lookalike.
