A/N so... I didn't expect this one to be this long but I had to write what was on my mind. I am endlessly in love with the ending of this chapter, and I hope you guys like it too.
Warnings: ⚠️Smut⚠️ and ⚠️some angst, but not really, yk?⚠️
Cas is gone. He's in the empty and Dean doesn't know what to do. He has never ever felt this lost before and all he wants to do is lay in bed.
He's been in his bed, only getting up to go use the bathroom, for a week now. He has barely eaten anything, and he's cried out all the fluids he's drank. Sam is worried sick, but he knows that Dean and Cas were close. Closer than he thinks they knew.
Dean rolls over in his bed, smelling himself and frowning. He hasn't showered in who knows how long. He doesn't have the motivation. He hugs his pillow, replaying Cas' goodbye in his head over and over and over again. Hearing those three words he hid from for years. He hates himself because he didn't say them back. He didn't think that was the end, but then it was.
"Cas, I don't know if you can hear me or if you even know what's going on. Either way, I miss you like hell. You have no idea. I feel so lost without you here, I miss your voice, your gorgeous eyes, I miss everything about you Cas. If you can hear me, I want you to know that I love you too. I didn't want to admit it, but I have loved you for years. I wish I could say it to your face more than anything. I just.. I want you back Cas." Dean cries, praying to the angel. "I want you. I want to know what your lips feel like against mine, I want you to hold me and love me until the day I die, because I know you would've. Please Cas, I need you to come back to me. Please." Dean says, sobbing hysterically.
When Dean finishes the prayer, hoping to god that Cas can hear him, he hears a knock on his door. Dean's eyes go wide, hoping for the impossible. "Dean?" Sam says on the other side of the door.
Dean sighs and wipes his tears. "Come in." He says softly, hoping that Sam isn't going to lecture him.
"How are you feeling?" Sam asks, stepping into Dean's room and seeing his swollen eyes.
"How do you think?" Dean spits back, pissed off that he's even asking.
"I know. It was a stupid question. Do you need anything? Anything at all?" Sam asks, sitting on the edge of Dean's bed and smelling the odor radiating off of his brother.
"I need Cas." Dean says, tears falling again.
Sam nods and stands up. "I know you two were close Dean, and I am so sorry that he is gone, but he is gone. I will let you mourn for however long you need, okay? But please try to take care of yourself. He wouldn't-" Sam says.
"Stop. Don't you dare." Dean cuts him off. He doesn't want to hear about what Cas would or wouldn't have wanted. He's not here.
"Just... please try." Sam says, walking out of the room, defeated.
Dean starts to cry and pray again. "Cas please. I love you. Please come back to me. I am begging you to come back, Cas. I want you. I need you here. I love you." Dean says again and again until his voice is scratchy and he can't speak anymore.
"I love you." Dean says one last time before falling asleep again.
All Cas can see is darkness. Everything is pitch black and he's confused. "Dean?!" Cas yells, his voice faltering. He hears his voice echo, but he can't figure out where he is. "Dean!" He says again, remembering the static-like prayers he heard.
"Castiel." A voice says, echoing around him.
"Who's there?" Cas says, pulling his angel blade out of his sleeve.
