A/N just something I wrote on my laptop the other day. Sorry for the censoring!! It was on my school laptop and I had to do that or it wouldn't go thru as an email to my phone. Also, any art i include in my story(s) have not been created by me!

Years ago, Castiel was swarmed by the empty. Everyone tried to get him back, they all were hurt by his loss, but Dean was hit the worst. He still remembers that day like it was just yesterday.

Ever since Cas made his speech and his almost final words came out of his mouth, Dean cannot stop thinking about them. "I love you, Dean"

That speech has been running through his head for three years straight. He was in love with the angel, though he realized it too late, he definitely loved him.

He hasn't moved on yet, still sulking around the bunker aimlessly hoping to hear a flap of wings and Cas' deep voice saying, "Hello, Dean."

He misses those blue eyes he'd always catch staring at him and the smell of the forest in the air when he was near. He still, to this day, thinks about the time he saw Cas, hiding in a room of the bunker, grooming his wings. Normally, the sight would burn a human's eyes out of their skull, but not Dean.

Dean walks into the kitchen of the bunker, not yet realizing what day it is, three years since Cas had been taken away from him. Years too early.

Sam gave Dean an odd look as he makes his coffee. "What?" Dean asks, confused and still not completely there. He hasn't been completely there since that day.

"I just thought you'd be in a different mood today... I don't know." Sam replies, taking a bite of his granola and fruit-filled yogurt.

"Why?" Dean asks, trying to think of something important that was supposed to happen today.

"Today is three years Dean, I'm sorry I thought you knew," Sam says sadly. He doesn't want to see his brother sad today, but better that than Dean feels guilty tomorrow when he remembers.

"Oh," Dean says his heart dropping. Castiel, his.. well not his.. but the angel was taken from him.

"Dean.." Sam says, standing up from the kitchen table.

"No. I'm fine. I'm going back to bed." Dean says, leaving the room and leaving his full cup of coffee sitting on the counter. Sam knows he's not okay, but he lets Dean go anyways. He probably wants to be alone today.

Dean lays back in his bed, feeling numb, and pulls the covers back over him feeling tears coming to his eyes. He lays there crying and gasping for breath for a while before he stops and starts praying. "Look you SOB, I know it was a part of your dam-ed plan to him away from me, but please bring him back. I don't care about the effing empty or how scared of it you are just please give him back to me." He finishes, eyes red and puffy from crying.

He quickly falls asleep, holding his pillow tightly to his chest, wishing it was the angel instead.

When Dean wakes up again tears come back to his eyes. He was dreaming that Cas was with him instead of in the empty and they were being all cuddly and perfect, just how Dean wishes It was now.

He gets out of bed and walks to the bathroom down the hall. He does his business and walks back into his room, seeing piercing blue eyes staring at him as he opens the door. He still has tears running down his face "What Cas?!" Dean says, running up to Cas and giving him a huge, tight, bear hug. They fall back onto Dean's bed with the force of the hug and Cas looks up at Dean. "How are you alive?" Dean asks, crying into Cas' iconic trench coat.

"I... I'm not sure." Cas says, surprised by Dean's enthusiasm. He pulls back from the hug and awkwardly moves around, Dean still on top of him.

"Did you mean it?" Dean asks suddenly as he gets off of Cas.
