Dean was a regular at a bar in town called Angel's Horns. Castiel, a bartender there, hadn't seen Dean in a few days, which is weird since he's there almost every night of the week.
Cas finished up his shift and wiped the counters, the image of Dean stuck in his mind. He misses seeing the green eyed, sandy haired beauty every night. Cas flipped the sign at the door to read 'Closed!' and pulled up his brother's contact on his phone.
He texted his brother, 'hey Gabriel, you know Dean, the regular at the bar?'
Gabe responded instantly, 'yeah, Sammy's brother, right?'
Cas replies, 'yes, him.' He always forgets that Sam, Gabriel's boyfriend, is Dean's brother. They look nothing alike. 'Do you have his number by chance?' Cas asks.
Gabe replies with a gif of some guy raising his eyebrows, and then 'No, just Sam. What's up? Wanna ask him out finally?'
'I haven't seen him in a bit. Just wanted to check up on him,' Cas replies, blushing at the insinuation. He does have a crush on Dean, but he's a very heavy drinker and with what Cas has to deal with at work, he's not too fond of that.
'Here's their address, let me know.' Gabe says, sending a pin to their house. Cas likes the text and steps out of the bar, locking the doors, and getting into his car. He pulls up the directions to Dean's house and drives the short drive.
When he arrives, he's slightly confused. The house is like an underground bunker. Maybe it's a family home...
Cas shuts his car off and steps out, walking to the front door, making sure he has the right address. He does.
Cas takes a deep breath and knocks. After a minute of silence, Cas turns around, thinking that Dean isn't home. When he does, though, the door opens with a creek, revealing Dean. He's wearing a tighter, grey AC/DC shirt with some Batman pajama pants. he's grown a beard recently, and it looks great on him. He looks absolutely adorable.
"Cas?" Dean asks, looking oddly at the bartender at his front door.
"Hey, Dean. I just came to check up on you. You haven't been in in a few days. I guess I got worried..." Cas says, blushing while rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand.
"Yeah... yeah, come in." Dean says, opening the door wider. Cas nods, stepping in and seeing a huge open floor plan. It's not exactly as wonderful as he thought it would be, but it has space for everything.
"Nice house." Cas comments, looking around and seeing a library in the corner with very comfortable looking chairs around a circle table.
"Yeah, not exactly. My dad gave it to me and Sam in his will, though." Dean says, leading Cas down the stairs and to a table that looks like an old school map, stained yellow with the lights inside.
"How have you been? Are you okay?" Cas asks, sitting across from Dean at the table, admiring his surroundings.
"I'm fine, I guess." Dean sighs, opening a beer that was sitting on the table already. He hands it to Cas and sips his own, almost empty beer. Cas nods, appreciatively and takes a sip.
"Were you expecting someone? I'm sorry to intrude on your plans..." Cas says, nervously.
"Do I look like I was expecting company?" Dean laughs, looking down at his pajamas.
"I guess not." Cas laughs, smiling at Dean's wide smile. "Why haven't you been in?" Cas asks. He really does miss talking to Dean over the counter of the bar.
"I- I don't know, really. I just kinda realized that I'm a 43 year old man who's a drunk and I wanted to change that..." Dean sighs, taking a sip of his beer and getting mad at the irony. "I'm getting old, I don't even have anyone other than Sam in my life, and that's just sad." He says, looking down at his fingers clutching the beer bottle.
