Sam lays in bed with Gabe the morning after a long hunt. He doesn't want to be awake yet, but it's weird sharing a bed with Gabe. On hunts they'll do that occasionally, but it's still kind of weird. Especially since it's just them two in the motel.
Sam falls back asleep, but one of those kinds of sleep where he's still halfway conscious, but can't control himself.
He feels Gabe shift, trying to get comfortable, and unknowingly reaches for him, pulling him back to his chest.
Gabe smiles in his sleep and it's obvious, but when he wakes up a few minutes later to a sudden jolt in Sam, he's left confused. Why are Sam's arms wrapped around him, with the hunter's face pressed into the angel's neck.
"Sammy what-?" Gabe asks, knowing that Sam's awake now by his breathing.
"Please, just a few more minutes. Let me just pretend." Sam mutters, sadly.
Gabe rolls over in his arms and looks at the sad, calm expression on Sam's face. His eyes are still closed, but he's awake.
"What's wrong Sammy?" Gabe asks, brushing his hair out of his beautiful face.
"Nothing. I'm fine." Sam says, obvious sadness still in his voice.
"Sam talk to me. I promise it'll be okay, whatever it is." Gabe comforts him, scooting closer to Sam's body, still in his arms. "Please Sam." He adds, after a minute of silence.
"I don't know Gabe. Wouldn't it be nice to not hunt. Live with the person, or people, you love without all of the supernatural shit? I've always wanted the normal, clueless human life y'know?" Sam admits, opening his eyes for the first time this morning. He sees Gabe's relaxed eyes looking at him, listening.
"Yeah it would be. I've lived for a millennia and I still dream of that. Every day." Gabe admits, frowning.
"We should then." Sam says. He knows they probably never will, but the fantasy of it is nice.
"We?" Gabe asks, hoping Sam means what Gabe thinks he means.
"Yeah. Why not? We could still live in the bunker but we don't have to go on all these hunts all the time. We could be a normal-" Sam stops himself before he says something he knows he shouldn't.
"A normal what?" Gabe asks and sam doesn't reply, just shakes his head. Gabe refuses to take that as an answer though. "No, what Sam? I want to know. A normal what?" Gabe presses for the answer.
Sam shakes his head, tears coming to his eyes. Gabe stops pushing for the answer and hugs Sam tightly. "It's okay Sammy. You don't have to say it if you don't want to. I'm sorry." Gabe says, apologetically.
"No it's not that. I'm sorry I'm overreacting." Sam says, wiping the tears from his face and pulling his arms away from Gabe.
Gabe keeps his arms around Sam, on his lower back. He looks up at Sam after looking at his arms and notices how close his face is to Sam's.
"Sam.." Gabe mumbles, looking down at Sam's lips.
Sam doesn't say anything as he leans forward slowly, pressing their lips together softly. The two kiss gently, both worrying about the other through the whole thing.
When Gabe's hands find their way to Sam's ass a little later, he pulls himself back reluctantly. "A normal couple." Sam says.
"Huh?" Gabe asks, not getting what Sam is saying. "Oh." He says, realizing it's about what he said earlier. "I would love that Sam." Gabe admits.
"Really?" Sam asks. He never thought Gabe showed interest in him, but maybe he was wrong.
"Yes, Sam." Gabe says, straddling Sam and then just laying on top of him, playing with his hair. Sam smiles up at Gabe.
