Rushing to the front door of Ollie's flat, I could feel a bead of sweat dropping from my forehead. If Ollie was actually injured, then why didn't he bother to call a club doctor? I pushed the thought out of my mind as I walked through the door and watched Ollie on the ground grunting in pain, slouched forward against the floor as held his hand against his chest.
"Ollie? Jesus Ollie, what's happened to you?" I yelled out loud as I rushed towards his side. Moving his body upwards, I could tell he looked in a great deal of pain as I looked into his eyes, staring into them. I could feel my heart beginning to slow down its pace whilst I tried my best to stay calm. His forced, heavy breaths caused beads of sweat to form against my forehead, warm liquid began to form against my eyes; this was the moment I bit my lip nervously.
"Ollie, I'm no doctor but this is serious. I don't know what's happening but you need to see a doctor."
"No, I don't need to go to the hospital, I'm fine the way I am. You know, I'm feeling much better Carmen, you can..." He stopped mid sentence, letting out a muffled grunt. At this point, my heart was beating rapidly, I wouldn't have been surprised if it beat right outta my chest.
"Now isn't the time to play games Ollie. It's your CHEST were talking about here. If I leave you here any longer, who knows what damage can happen? Do you understand that?" I pleaded loudly to him, trying to hold back the tears that were slowly beginning to arise. Looking at me, he finally agreed only if I went with him.
Sighing, I slowly helped him up and guided him to my car and helped him up into the passenger side seat. Closing the door behind him, I made my way around to the otherside of the car and began driving to the hospital when Ollie started to let out a moan of pain. I tried my best to calm him pain but no matter how hard I tried, the groans seemed to be continuous. The last thing I needed was for Ollie to create more pain for himself.
Driving along the main road, the silence between wasn't hard to miss as Ollie kept his head on the road in front. I desperately tried my hardest to get to the hospital quickly even though just being in the same car with Ollie made it difficult for me to concentrate.
"Carmen, I'm feel like such a loser for letting myself drown in pain. I should have just agreed for you to just take me to the hospital straight away."
"Ollie, you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. Accidents happen, no matter how much protection we have or how much caution we put in our everyday lives, we can never be too sure." I said softly keeping my eyes on the road ahead of me. I couldn't tell what it was, but I could sense Ollie forcing a smile at me through the pain he was going through.
Coming up to the hospital car park, I was reviled to find a suitable parking spot near the entrance of the hospital. I hopped out the car and rushed towards the opposite end of the car as I guided Ollie towards the entrance of the hospital.
Rushing through the glass double doors, I shouted as loud as I could for somebody's attention and could feel dozen pairs of eyes staring straight through me. That wasn't what I cared about, right now my interests lied in Ollie and his health.
A tall, middle aged woman with dreadlocks rushed towards us and stared at us quite worriedly.
"What's the emergency? We've contacted a doctor who should be here very soon. Please ma'am tell us what's going on?" The women spoke quite clearly and calmly who took glimpses at Ollie, who looked in a pretty bad way. The moment I tried telling my story, another woman emerged from behind the nurse.
"Good afternoon, I'm Dr. Fitzburg. We've got no time to waste, so before you let me know what's going on I'm going to take your friend here with me and take him into an examination room where you can come in a short while; whilst your waiting please talk to the nurses over there." The confident woman with vibrant brown coloured hair, an Indian appearance and looked to also be in her middle age, as well as the nurse with the dreadlocks, took Ollie away leaving me behind with my thoughts and fears.
