Sitting in Grace's boutique for the second time this week, I felt both nervous and excited. Finally, it time to start working on the design of the dress with Grace. I still felt strange that Chad was allowing me to do this but I didn't have the time to argue with him anymore.
"So Carmen, you ready to start designing your Brownlow's dress? I bet you're going to be the best dressed lady at the awards night next week."
"I guess I have to be ready. I'm still nervous if the night turns out to be a real mess, just take yesterday night as an example."
Grace looked at me as she forced a smile on her face before she opened her laptop and picked up a pen. Apparently, today was only just the design stage so I was eager to see Grace craft her magic.
"To get a better understanding of the type of dress you're going to wear on the night, I want you tell me different things about yourself, you know things like ambitions, dreams, hopes. Those kinds of things to help me boost the wow factor of the dress."
Grace and myself spent the next few hours discussing different types of styles and designs that would best suit the dress. With each word being spoken it made me become more excited to see how the dress would turn out.
As researching began taking place on the laptop, I began to skim through an album I found laying on the desk as I looked up at Grace and continued to look through the glossy black book. I was mesmerised by the various different designs that Grace had put her heart and soul into. The one that caught my eye by surprise was a fiery red one sleeved ballroom gown.
"That is honestly one of the most stunning pieces of clothing I have ever seen. How long did this take you to make?"
"That was a dress Lauren Raygen, an actress on Neighbours asked me to design for her because of a function or something. It took me about three and a half weeks and yeah, it was a proud moment to see it featured on TV."
I smiled listening to Grace's story as I started thinking about the amount of effort she took to make that masterpiece of a dress, I cleared my throat and looked at Grace as she stared at me confused.
"Do you remember that time you met my friend Angus and you seemed to be showing a rather large amount of attention to him? Well, I've done some thinking and I guess I could help you out a bit."
"What do you mean, help me out a bit? Carmen, you didn't go around telling everyone I thought Angus was good looking have you?" She asked as she stared quite defensively at me. Laughing, I rested my hands on her palm before showing her a picture of him on phone.
"Listen, I don't know him personally but I do know that he hasn't been in a relationship for quite a while now and I think now's the time he's been looking. If you're interested, you should at least think about taking my help."
"Look, I don't really know -"
My phone started buzzing as I grabbed it off the table and excused myself, leaving Grace to work on the designs herself. As I made my way towards the door of the boutique, I answered to a rather concerned Ollie on the opposite end of the line.
"I was just curious but the other day you were asking about Angus' relationship status. What was that about?"
"Well, you see I was out with a friend of mine and I bumped into Angus who seemed interested in her and she was also interested in him. I don't think they'd admit it but if we can somehow get them together, I think they'd make a cute couple."
"Well, Angus did mention something about a charming lady he met at the shops a few days ago and was kicking himself for not getting her number. Maybe we could meet up and just plan something together -"
