Ollie and I finally arrived back in Adelaide after a couple of days in Hindmarsh. The wedding was a pretty huge success which led to Jordan and Gwen to head off to their honeymoon destination which was Cuba which I thought was pretty cute.

Although the last couple of days were filled with doubt, I was actually glad that Jordan and I made up as well as that I witnessed a wedding. Now that the distraction was over, it was time to sort out my personal life; which also included my relationship with Ollie and my overpowering feelings for Chad.

Slamming the car door shut, I grabbed my bags out from the boot and dropped them on the ground. Ollie gave me a hug then he released from it giving a shy smug.

"I had a really fun time with you in Hindmarsh. We should totally head there again but just for ourselves."

"Maybe. But I really did have a fun time. Your brother was cool and your family seemed nice."

"Ah thank you. You do know that you made the past few days extra special though." Ollie finished as I smiled and said my farewells. I could tell he wanted a kiss but right now I wasn't feeling the urge to be passionate. As he came closer, I brushed him off and apologised. He sighed and in silence I watched him get in the car and slowly drive onto the main road before heading right out of my sights.

Now it was my turn to sigh. I grabbed my bag and turned around as I slowly made my way to the front of the house and up the steps when I could see something move from the corner of my eyes. My eyes widened as my mind went into overdrive; I prayed to myself that I was seeing things.

I shook my head and brushed off the thought as I focused my attention on the door. Slowly, I began to raise the key to the door when I could hear my name being called out. I sharply turned my head into the distance and felt my heart race rapidly. Now I was panicking, what was going on?

"He.. Hello." I called as a tall figure emerged from the darkness. I knew nobody was expected here since most of our relatives were busy with their lives and things so that was out of the question.

"Carmen." The tall figure that emerged from the sheer darkness stepped in front of me, saying my name aloud once again. My mind finally clicked into place when I realised it was Chad.

Wait, Chad?

Blinking my eyes a couple times, I tried my best to force out the vision but soon realised that this was actually reality and I wasn't dreaming. My heart raced rapidly, what was Chad doing on the front of my porch.

"What are doing here?" I asked half in panic and half in relief. I was panicked because I honestly didn't know how this sudden meeting between the two of us would turn out and relieved because I would finally get to talk with Chad.

"I... I wanted to see you Carmen."

"How did you know I'd be coming back from Hindmarsh?"

"Well, I didn't. I thought you were at home and when I was about to knock on the door, I guess I got nervous and decided to get my confidence back. Why were you in Hindmarsh?"

I ignored his question feeling rather stupid to be a having conversation with him at a time like this. What business did Chad have asking me about my whereabouts when clearly I've never asked him once where he was?

"Honestly Chad, is there a reason why you're here because I'm really tired and just want to get to sleep. It's been a really long past couple of days, I don't feel like sharing details of my personal life."

"Right." He finished the sentence adding to the awkward silence between the two of us. Apart from the large emptiness between us, the other thing that I could hear was the sound of crickets singing their song under the dark moonlit sky. The vibrant blue rays of the moon shone upon us as I moved closer to Chad.
