Y/n looked at the reconstructed neighborhood, secretly missing how it used to be. Sure it was more lively and funky now but at what cost.
Accidents had happened, disturbing things had been aired on television.
The production team decided it was for the better to 'create' new stars to fill in, the show must go on afterall.
The old cast was staying somewhere else for the time being (dumped at center parcs). The new cast was currently settling in, getting used to their roles.
Surprisingly they kept you.
Recreating puppets was easy but there where some issues regarding the same procedure for a human.
"Head over to one of the changing rooms, we have new clothes ready to fit the chosen time area better."
One of the workers, part of the film crew lead Y/n away. They obliged, keeping on a smile to appear optimistic.
They stared at some of the items laid down, crop tops, cosmo pants, maxi skirts, colorful sweatpants, cool knee boots and all kinds of fun accessories.
Y/n picked up the things they liked the most, holding it front of them before the mirror. A knock on the door made them look up.
They returned the items to its original place before opening the door of the trailer. Reboot leaned against the door, giving a small wave.
"Hey, heard we'll be working together from now on."
"Yup-"
There was a long silence...
You couldn't help but get reminded of your former buddy.
Original was gone now, Y/n still had trouble accepting that. Though it be unfair to use that as reason to be rude to the new star of the show.
His height kinda bothered them, formerly they where towering over the silly puppet but now they where the same height.
"So that is the outfit you'll be wearing?" He asked, clearly judging them. "I came here to see if you needed some help with it and I think it was right of me to come by and offer my assistance."
"BYE BOY-" They closed the door on him, not wanting to hear another word.
The human was talking to the other rebooted neighbors, slowly getting used to them, they where a bit more energetic and high energy but very sweet overall.
From the side lines the yellow puppet watched them with a frown. He felt like he was getting left out from the conversation.
He too felt conflicted about the situation, he never asked to be 'the replacement'.
Since he was here in the end he might as well turn the show around and get good publicity.
Y/n would play a important role as well but they where from the old cast and didn't seem very happy with him. Reboot didn't like that fact. He would show them how much better he was than Original.
Time to use his wooing skills~
"Hey. So how have you been doing, fitting in nicely with the others?"
Reboot practiced in front of a mirror, he let out a sigh before saying it again on a softer tone. He tried out a flirtatious grin, which looked really silly tbh.
Unaware to him Y/n had actually been watching him this time around. They shook their head in disbelief, holding back a giggle.
He caught their reflection in the mirror, turning around with a flustered expression. They quickly sprinted away, pretending not to hear him as he shouted for them to come back.
From that point on Reboot tried really hard to impress Y/n but he was such a show off!
The human simply rolled their eyes at his antics, though ever so slowly they grew closer with the yellow puppet.
The others started to notice the shift in behavior, even the viewers. The show was back on track and getting good reviews again.
"Alright we are ready to shoot a valentines special, it will be feature Frank and Eddie as our main lovers but we wanted to throw in a extra couple."
Y/n wasn't paying much attention, they sat next to Reboot. The two had been asked to discuss something for a upcoming scene.
They sat on a random table, not even a chair or couch. Both of their legs where hovering around in the air.
His leg touched yours, he seemed to do it on purpose.
"Are you trying to start something..." They glared at him.
"Whatever do you mean~" He teased, with a smug expression.
The employee on the sidelines watched in silence, noting something down, looking satisfied.
"Ah yes you two will fit the roles perfectly, we where thinking a enemies to lovers type of thing. The fans seem to like the chemistry you two have."
Y/n finally processing the words, looked up in horror.
"Excuse me what?!"
Reboots eye lightened up, seeing it as the perfect chance to become closer.
"Can you imagine it, the man of your dreams will finally be yours."
He wasn't even done speaking those words before they snorted out laughing.
Although Y/n could admit they bickered with him like a old married couple they didn't want to be involved with Reboot like that.
At least that is what they kept on saying to themselves.
The playful look in his lavender eyes was driving you crazy though-
"Hey neighbor, I'm pretty and your cute. Together we'd be pretty cute." Reboot flirted, trying to convince them to do scene with him.
"It's still a no from me. Also you could do better than that."
Reboot saw it as a challenge, he was now determined to prove he could rizz them up. Y/n tried swatting him away like a annoying mosquito.
"If you let me borrow a kiss, I promise I'll give it right back."
"Ha! You wish~"
The employee did a few hand signals, behind them a a camera zoomed in on the the humans puppets playful banter.
With some editing it would be useful material to air on television.
