As Royal strolled through the kingdom, the usual calm in his heart was disrupted by an unfamiliar feeling a sense of anticipation he couldn't quite place.
Dressed in his royal garb, he had decided to patrol the kingdom on foot, leaving his guards behind to interact more personally with his people. It was something he enjoyed doing, and today, the air was filled with the scent of blooming roses as he made his way through the peaceful land.
Meanwhile, not far from where the puppet was walking, a human named Y/n was trying to keep a low profile.
They had fled the ruined Spade Kingdom, a place now shrouded in mystery and taboo, hoping to find a new life in the Heart Kingdom.
They'd heard stories of kings kindness and thought it might be the safest place to seek refuge. But hiding their identity as a former citizen of Spades was no easy task. The mere mention of the kingdom could cause suspicion, and they were desperate to avoid any attention.
Their magic, a talent that had been with them since childhood, was both a gift and a curse. Without proper training, Y/n's spells often went awry, causing more problems than solutions. It was this lack of control that had landed them in trouble today.
It was a warm, sunny afternoon when Y/n found themselves in the forest just outside the Heart Kingdom's capital.
They had ventured out to practice their magic in seclusion, far from the prying eyes of the townsfolk. The trees around them were tall and ancient, their branches swaying gently in the breeze as they focused on a small clearing, their hands glowing with a soft light.
"Steady." They muttered to themselves, trying to keep their concentration. The magic thrummed in their veins, a wild force that was difficult to contain. "Just a little more..."
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the bushes nearby, startling them. Their concentration broke, and before they could stop it, a burst of magic shot from their hands, ricocheting off the trees and flying straight toward the source of the noise.
There was a yelp, followed by the sound of someone tripping over roots and crashing to the ground.
Y/n's heart dropped into their stomach. "Ah!" they whispered, rushing forward to see who they had accidentally hit.
To their horror, they found themselves face-to-face with none other than Royal. He was lying on the ground, a bit dazed but otherwise unharmed. His royal outfit was slightly askew, and his crown had fallen off, lying in the grass beside him. Despite the situation, he seemed more surprised than angry.
