Y/n was cleaning the glass vitrine, blood had splattered all over it on accident. It wasn't the prettiest sight.
You where used to it by now though-
Humming along to a song from the store speakers they did their job. It was a quiet day, it wasn't likely many visitors would come in.
So they turned op the volume the radio speakers, there where some really edgy ones this time around. At the moment songs from Jack Stauber where on.
(SLAY)
As much as they loved most of the lyrics, it gave them a eary feeling. The shop... had something unsettling.
"Hm-mm you stopped singing, something the matter?" Butcher asked, as he popped out from one one of the back rooms.
"Oh- Just got reminded of something... wait was I singing?!" Y/n blinked in surprise, smiling awkwardly at their boss.
"Yeah you where, I could hear even in the back. You've got quite the talent for it." He nodded in affirmation.
"Oh gosh I'm didn't realise I was that loud, I'll try keeping my voice down." They said apologetically, awkwardly running their hand through their hair.
Dumb decision.
The gloves they wore where covered in blood from cleaning the stains earlier. Now their hair was drenched in blood.
"Why am I like this..."
Butcher let out a amused chuckle at the display, walking over to hand out a small towel. Y/n took it over, feeling mortified.
"You can use the washroom in the back to clean yourself up."
He gave them a grin not all bothered by the bloody mess. They nodded their head, wanting to get the blood off as soon as possible.
Y/n made their way through some hallways and doors before coming to a halt at dead end in front of a firmly barricaded metal door.
There was also a sign that said 'do not enter' on the outside.
They must have taken a wrong turn earlier, they hadn't worked here for long only a week so the layout was unfamiliar to them at times.
You probably wheren't supposed to be here. Time to turn back!
Y/n gagged, noticing a foul stench coming from the other side. Like something was rotting... like a corpse.
The rest of the day continued on like normal, when it was closing time Y/n waved off a customer before closing the cash register.
They tried to shrug it off but the event of earlier was really bugging them. The door, the smell... they got a REALLY bad vibe from it.
Butcher had stepped out for a moment to take out the trash, if anything now was the perfect time to check out what was behind the door.
Just a quick glance to satisfy their curiosity!
Maybe Butcher accidentally left some meat behind and forgot about it. Y/n would could do him a favor by checking it out and cleaning it up.
...But wasn't there was saying curiosity killed the cat?
"Why did you do it, we where getting along so well." Butchers voice called out, he sounded a bit upset.
He twirled the knife in his hand, tightened his grasp on it. "It took me a while to find someone willing to help me out... now I have to look for a new employee to fill your spot."
Y/n was hiding behind one of the freezers, their heart beating rapidly from fear. They didn't dare to make a sound, knowing what he was capable off.
You knew now.
The rotting corpses of missing people and even killed off neighbors where stored behind the mysterious door.
They where hiding in the back but if they could make it to the front of the store and exit- It was in reach, not totally impossible.
Only through a couple of doors, it wasn't far. The radio could be heard from the front side. Y/n focused on the music trying to stay calm.
'I can't decide' from Scissors Sister was currently playing.
What a mood...
"I really hoped it wouldn't get to this... you understand right? I'll promise to make this painless and quick~"
Y/n's eyes widened as Butcher was suddenly in front of them with a crazy look in his eyes. They let out a scream before pushing him away and dashing towards the front store.
🎶 I'm just a loner baby and now you've gotten in my way! 🎶
"Don't struggle, it's futile."
He sprinted after them, grabbing them by their hair and slamming them down on the counter.
🎶 I can't decide whether you should live or die or die~ Oh you probably go to heaven, please don't hang your head and cry. 🎶
Butcher raised his knife above their neck, his expression faltered and for thé tiniest moment he hesitated.
Y/n stared up at him with a helpless look. Their tears where falling down rapidly... he almost felt compelled to wipe them away.
🎶 No wonder why my heart feels dead inside, it's cold and hard and petrified. Lock the doors and close the blinds we are going for a ride. 🎶
He shook his head in pity, it truly was unfortunate...
Butchers knife sliced their neck, painless and quick like he promised. He licked off the blood, it left a bittersweet taste in his mouth.
Sometimes, curiosity can lead to horrifying consequences, as Y/n tragically discovered in this story.
