ANGST?? (dunno, maybe a teeny tiny bit of angst for priest)

There stood a quaint church presided over by the stern but devoted priest. With a book of scriptures in hand and a firm resolve, he conducted his sermons with an air of eloquence that captivated his followers. His eyes bore the weight of the world, yet they shimmered with unwavering dedication to the god he worshipped, a deity he referred to as Home.

Among the regular attendees was also a new, more mischievous presence.

It was them again.

Priest was welcoming to all new visitors and inhabitants of the neighborhood he oversaw. Making sure to invite them for his sermons. When Y/n arrived they proved to be a lot harder to convince and get them to attend than any other.

The difficulties he went through-

They hardly showed any proper respect, their attention always drifting to other things around them when he was reprimanding- talking to them.

He could be giving a sermon about Home and his mercy and they would be distracted with lesser activities.

Counting all the tiles in the floor. Trying to reenact the scenes shown on the mural paintings on the walls and ceilings. Daydreaming. So much daydreaming.

He truly wondered what went on that head of theirs.

The most infuriation thing was when Y/n would flash him with that cheeky smile which meant nothing but trouble. Priest tried his best to put them on the right path, to make them a loyal follower, to show them their true purpose (SERVING HOME) but they just didn't listen.

Their resilience to follow his instructions, act properly and in devoted fashion was even noticed by... by his lord. Which shouldn't be a surprise as he knows everything. Of course he would notice.

Priest felt a uneasy feeling in his chest as he didn't want to think about the consequences for his new neighbor if they where to defy HOME. Unintentionally or not, it was seen as disrespect. And disrespect was met with punishment. He knew all too well.

Y/n seemed to be on a mission to tire out Priest, today deciding it was time to address a issue in earshot of the others. It was right after a sermon they walked up to him as some congregation members where leaving their seats and other chatted for a bit.

"Sooooo I've been thinking-"

"You mean daydreaming."

Y/n made an undignified expression as Priest corrected them. They put a hand to his mouth to shush them which he did not appreciate.

"I've been thinking about your way of talking. Your words."

"Really?" His expression quickly brightened. "Are you finally paying attention and ready to serve our mighty lord."

"Not that." They chuckled with an pretend innocent expression. "Why do you always refer to us as a flock of sheep? It's a bit... well, sheepish, don't you think?"

Barnaby who was ever present let out loud laugh at the pun, but quickly saw himself out as Priest shot both of them a disapproving look.

"It's a metaphorical representation of guidance and unity. We are like a flock, and I am here to lead you all."

He truly saw his followers like a flock of sheep, and he took it upon himself to guide, protect, and keep them in line.

Especially to keep the more unruly ones in lines.

Y/n however, wasn't deterred. With a mischievous glint in their eye, they couldn't resist the temptation to tease. "Well, if we're a flock, can I do this?" They then let out a brief, comical sheep-like bleat, causing a few stifled giggles from those that where still left to witness it.

Wally's expression tightened, struggling to keep his seriousness intact. "This is a sacred place. Please show some respect." He felt frustration rise up at their continuing disregard.

..

...

But they couldn't resist another playful imitation, this time with a sheepish grin. "Baaah! Sorry, my natural sheep instinct got unlocked."

Priest, torn between offense and amusement, fought back a smile. He couldn't let HOME see him smile. "I implore you to treat this sacred place with the respect it deserves."

Meanwhile Julie was trying not to die of laughter, hiding her face behind the Bible she was holding. Frank quickly dragged her giggly self away knowing better than to stay around when Priest was about to be agitated. Despite his attempt to suppress it, a small chuckle escaped even him.

"Just imagine, if we were really a flock of sheep. I'd be the rebellious one, the black sheep, or maybe even a rainbow-colored sheep. You know, to spice things up."

"That's quite enough."

Priest raised his voice going back to a more stern expression to hide the flicker of amusement at their boldness. Feeing things he wasn't allowed to feel. Y/n didn't even seem bothered  mor awre about his inner struggles, I flashing a cheeky smile before hopping out of the church.

god, that smile had him feeling *things*.

HOME would not be happy with this.
