Rainbow had dealt with his fair share of annoyances, but nothing could prepare him for Y/n's latest stunt.
"Surprise!" They declared with a wide grin, holding out a bag plastered with Rainbow Dash's smugly determined face.
They'd gone all out with buying merch: socks, a t-shirt, a water bottle, and an absurdly fluffy hat—all decked out with the iconic blue pony.
He crossed his arms, expression deadpan as he looked down at the array. "Y/n, I don't know what kind of message you're trying to send with this, but let me be clear—"
"Oh, don't be so grumpy, Rainbow!" They interjected, clapping the blue-and-rainbow hat on his head before he could duck away. They adjusted it, ensuring the fake plush ears perched just right. "You look adorable!"
His jaw tensed, the sharp gleam of his unamused eyes contrasting the pastel pony hat now crowning his head. "I am not adorable. I am efficient. Effective. I have a system."
Rainbow tried to pull the hat off, but Y/n was quicker, clasping his hands and beaming up at him.
"You know what Rainbow Dash has?" They said, ignoring his attempts to twist out of their grip. "A lot of friends! And that's exactly what you need."
His gaze narrowed. "And you think dressing me up as this... character will somehow... forge bonds?" He practically spat the last words out, staring in sheer disdain at the image of the pony on the water bottle.
"Obviously!" They chirped, ignoring his growing glare. "And that's why today, I'm teaching you all about friendship!"
Rainbow groaned but let himself be tugged along as Y/n began to hum.
That hum soon grew louder, turning into a high-pitched rendition of the "My Little Pony" theme. He had to bite down a pained sigh. Of all the things to torment him with, why this? He was a proud owner of the rainbow factory, a master of precision and discipline! Not... not...
"My Little Pony~" Y/n sang as they walked along, swinging his arm. "I used to wonder what friendship could be—"
"I don't wonder." Rainbow grumbled, still attempting to remove the hat without them noticing.
They shook their head. "Nope, you need this." They said, pausing for dramatic effect. "Today, we're going to make a friend whether you like it or not."
He sighed, staring skyward as if the universe would grant him the patience he'd need to get through this. "If I cooperate." He began, tone measured. "Will this... humiliation... be over sooner?"
Y/n's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Oh, we're just getting started, Dashie."
"Do not call me Dashie." Rainbow snapped back.
But the more they laughed and leaned into their ridiculous plan, he couldn't quite hide the reluctant twitch of a smile.
At least, he thought, if he had to put up with this absurd mission, he couldn't think of anyone better to drag him into it than Y/n.
