Opposite wasn't thrilled about visiting the other Wally's. In fact, he was dragging his feet the entire way as Y/n basically forced him to attend.

He had grumbled and groaned about it, but he eventually gave in because, well... it was his neighbor, his partner. The one person who managed to break through his surly exterior, the only person he didn't mind being vulnerable around

"This is pointless." He muttered for the third time as they walked hand-in-hand. His voice was sharp, his dark eyes narrowed as he glanced at you. "Why do we even need to go? They're just... me. But worse."

They rolled their eyes, squeezing his hand. "You can't just live in your grumpy bubble forever. It's good to socialize every now and then."

"I socialize."

"Uh-huh. With who? The couch? The ceiling fan?"

He scowled, but they only smirked, knowing he didn't have a comeback. Deep down, Opposite hated the idea of visiting the other Wally's not because he didn't care but because he cared too much. He didn't want to see Y/n smiling at them the way they smiled at him.

They were versions of him, after all, what if they decided one of them was better?

The visit started off rocky, with Opposite lurking in Y/n's shadow like a storm cloud as they entered though a portal bringing them to a random Wally's universe. The first alternative puppet they met greeted them both with shy warmth, his greyscale hues standing out in the bright, vibrant world.

"It's nice to meet you." Grey said softly, his smile faint but genuine.

"Nice to meet you too." Y/n replied, their tone warm as reached out to shake his hand.

The angry hotheaded puppet hung back, his arms crossed tightly over his chest as he scanned the outside. He didn't like how easily you fit into this world, how your kindness drew others in. He also had to glare at a certain blueberry head and lavender haired freak to keep their distance from him and them.

As Y/n chatted with Grey, their usual affection naturally shone through. To Opposite, it felt like they were slipping further and further away.

Later, as they stepped into the kitchen of this worlds Home to grab some tea, he found himself alone outside the house, with the counterpart he was starting to feel envious off.

"Enjoying yourself?" He asked, his voice low and sharp as he leaned against the wall.

The other looked up, his grey eyes wide and uncertain. "Um... I guess?"

"You're not that special, you know." Opposite said, his tone venomous. "All this mopey, sad shtick? It's exhausting."

Grey flinched, his shoulders hunching. "I didn't mean to upset you—"

"Upset me? Don't flatter yourself." His scowl deepened as he stepped closer. "You don't belong in this. You don't belong with them."

Before the grayscale puppet could stammer a reply, the familiar humans voice rang out from the doorway.

"Opposite." They said sharply, their tone cutting like a blade.

He froze, turning to see them standing there, teacups in hand. Their eyes were blazing with disappointment, and it made his chest ache.

"What are you doing?" Y/n asked, stepping past him to place a comforting hand on Grey's shoulder.

"I..." Opposite faltered, his usual bravado crumbling under their gaze.

"You were being cruel." They said, their voice steady but firm. "To him. Why?"

Grey looked between the two, his expression a mix of fear and confusion. "Neighbor, it's okay. I'm used to it—"

"No, it's not okay." They said, cutting him off. They turned back to Opposite, their tone softening slightly. "What's going on with you? This isn't like you."

♥ ᴱᵃᵗ ᵃ ˢⁿⁱᶜᵏᵉʳˢ, ʸᵒᵘ ᵃʳᵉ ⁿᵒᵗ ʸᵒᵘ ʷʰᵉⁿ ʸᵒᵘ'ʳᵉ ʰᵘⁿᵍʳʸ. ♥

Opposites jaw tightened as he looked away, his fists clenching at his sides.

"You wouldn't get it."

"Try me."

He hesitated, the words catching in his throat. Finally, he snapped. "I don't want to lose you, alright?"

The room fell silent. And all the eyes of the other puppets seemed to tune in on the conversation happening right here.

Opposite ran a hand through his hair, his voice trembling with frustration. "I see the way you look at them, at him. Like they're better. Like they're worth your time. And I... I can't compete with that."

Y/n's heart ached at the vulnerability in his voice. They reached out, gently placing a hand on his arm. "Love... you don't have to compete with anyone."

He glared at you, his eyes burning with doubt. "How can you say that? I'm—look at me. I'm nothing but a bitter, broken mess. Why would you stay?"

They sighed, stepping closer. "Because I care about you. All of you. Even when you're stubborn and rude. But you have to stop pushing people away, and same goes of other versions of yourself."

He stared at them, his expression unreadable. Finally, he sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I don't deserve you."

"That's not for you to decide." They said softly, giving his arm a gentle squeeze.

Grey, still awkwardly standing to the side, cleared his throat. "I, um... I don't think you're as bad as you think you are."

Opposite gave him a long, skeptical look before muttering. "Don't push it."

But as his neighbor, his partner pulled him into a comforting hug, some of the tension left his body. But he was quick to glare at the others as they raised eyes at the affectionate display, telling them to 'fuck off' with a look of his own.

So romantic-
