Original sat across from Y/n, a soft, content smile on his face as they shared a warm moment together inside his cozy, colorful home. The light from the lamps cast a soft glow, making everything feel just a little bit more intimate. The air smelled faintly of apples (thanks to his obsession with the fruit), and everything seemed perfect... except for one glaring issue.

They could feel it. The presence. The weight of eyes, or something like it, watching them.

And it wasn't just a feeling, it was literal.

Original had been talking about something, probably a new painting idea, but Y/n wasn't really paying attention anymore.

Instead, their eyes kept darting to the walls.

Specifically, Home. The sentient house. The windows creaked slightly, the wood creaked just a little too loudly, and Y/n swore they saw one of the pictures on the wall tilt in their direction as if it was leaning in to listen.

The puppet, oblivious, leaned forward, his soft eyes twinkling with fondness as he stared at his human companion.

"I'm really glad we could spend some time together, neighbor." He said sweetly, reaching for their hand.

They shifted uncomfortably, glancing around the room before locking eyes with the window... Home's window, which seemed to be looming in on them like an unblinking guardian. They could swear it was judging them, somehow.

Original, however, was unbothered. He leaned closer to Y/n, his yellow felt hand reaching out to brush theirs, his usual cheerful smile lighting up his face. "This is nice, isn't it?" He said softly, his voice gentle.

Y/n's eyes flicked again to the door, then back to Original, and without thinking, the words just tumbled out. "This is great, just the three of us."

He blinked, tilting his head. "Three of us?"

They deadpanned, pointing toward the door. "You. Me. And this sentient house that is watching us."

"Oh, neighbor, don't be silly! Home doesn't mind."

But at that exact moment, the floorboards creaked ominously, and the walls seemed to shift ever so slightly, as if Home were inching closer, listening in on their conversation. The atmosphere grew just a little heavier, the silent judgment of the house palpable. Even the windows seemed to narrow, like a pair of eyes squinting in disapproval.

They raised an eyebrow, leaning closer to him. "Yeah... I think it minds."

He glanced around, his smile faltering just a little. "Oh... well, Home just likes to make sure I'm okay! Isn't that right, Home?"

There was a long, uncomfortable creak from the floorboards. It felt like Home was shifting, its gaze narrowing. A window shut on its own, and Y/n couldn't shake the feeling they were being silently judged. Hard. Original, however, was determined to keep the mood light, scooting a bit closer.

"Don't worry about it, neighbor. It's harmless. It just cares about me."

"Uh-huh. Safety. Sure."

Another creak, louder this time, like the house was deeply offended.

The window curtains blew open with a gust of wind that wasn't there a second ago, flapping dramatically as if to emphasize Home's presence. Y/n and Original both looked over at the window, the tension hanging in the air.

"Dude, your house is totally giving me the stink eye."

Original, still smiling sweetly, looked around at Home and shrugged. "Well, Home does have strong opinions... but I think you're great! It will come around."

Y/n sighed, shooting one last glance at the suspiciously creaky walls. "Yeah, well, until then, it'd be nice if it could give us some privacy."

Suddenly, a door slammed shut somewhere in the house.

Original blinked and smiled brightly. "See? Privacy!"

Y/n just groaned, shaking their head. "Great. So romantic."

But as the curtains rustled again, they weren't convinced. It had it's eyes on them... and it wasn't about to give them privacy anytime soon.

"Just, you know... don't let it eat me when I'm sleeping over or something."

Original chuckled softly. "It would never! Home would never hurt a neighbor."

The house made the lights flicker ominously, as if it was trying to assert it's presence in the most uncomfortable way possible.

Originals smile remained unwavering. "Well, isn't this a cozy evening?"

Y/n sighed, shaking their head unable to stop grimacing. "Yeah, super cozy. The three of us... forever together."
