The race is on

The week had passed and their internships had now concluded.  Mirko congratulated Maki on how much she'd learned and said she hoped the day would come when she could fight alongside her when she became a pro.  Maki retorted by pointing out the Mirko liked to work alone, she just laughed it off.  Back at UA everyone was talking about how their internships went, Kirishima & Sero were laughing their heads off and poking fun at Bakugo's new hairstyle, his normally spiky hair had been combed down but it didn't stay in place for very long.  Ashido was talking to her, Jiro & Asui about how they confronted real villains during their internships, Asui said that out was just a drugs bust.  Similarly, Maki said that she only fought a thief and that she didn't even need to use her quirk tools.
"So cool!" Ashido squealed in excitement and amazement while Maki just deadpanned.  Uraraka had clearly awakened her fighting spirit from her internship with Gunhead, Maki was secretly looking forward to putting her newfound skills to the test.  Mineta was saying what he learned was that all women were evil from his internship with Mt. Lady.  Kaminari was talking about how Midoirya, Ida & Todoroki went through the most because they encountered the hero killer: Stain, according to the news Endeavor captured him but judging by their facial expressions, Maki guessed that they needed to read between the lines more.

Their Foundational Heroics Studies class soon came up and All Might said they would be doing a race to see how well they could manoeuvre through difficult terrains in order to reach someone who needed rescuing.  Maki ended up coming first in her group because of her superior speed and agility.  Afterwards when they were changing, they caught Mineta peeping at them through a hole in the wall, Jiro retaliated by stabbing him in the eye with her earphone jack.

"Alright, that's it for class today" Aizawa said "there's only one week left before your final exams begin. I'm sure you're all studying constantly, right? Don't forget to keep training, the written exam is only one element, there's also the practical portion to worry about. Good luck." He said as he exited the classroom, closing the door behind him. Some of Maki's classmates started panicking because they hadn't studied at all, a fair few asked Momo to help them with studying and she enthusiastically agreed. Soon other started worrying about the practical exam because they had no clue what it would entail, one student from Class 1B said that they heard from one of the second years that they would be fighting the robots. This made many of her classmates relieved but given the recent villain attacks, Maki suspected that the teachers would be changing things.

The written exam had gone by fairly smoothly and now it was time for the practical exam. Maki and her classmates were in their hero costumes and they were met by all the hero course teachers, their presence increased Maki's suspicions that the exam had been changed.
"Now then, let's begin the last test." Aizawa said "Remember it's possible to fail this one, if you want to go to camp then don't make any stupid mistakes." One of them asked why all the teachers were there but Aizawa just continued as if they hadn't spoken.
"I expect many of you have gathered information and believe you have some idea of what you'll be facing today."
"We're fighting those big old metal robots!" Kaminari said, clearly pumped
"Fireworks, s'mores, here we come!" Ashido added, equally pumped
Suddenly a lump in Aizawa's scarf appeared and the headmaster, Nezu, popped out. From Aizawa's unconcerned face, he was clearly used to this.
"Actually, this year's tests will be completely different for various reasons!" The rodent announced, making Ashido and Kaminari freeze.
"Thought so" Maki deadpanned. Nezu went on to explain that they would be put in pairs and they would be pitted against one of the teachers.
"Additionally, your partners and opponents have already been chosen" Aizawa added "they were determined at my discretion based on various factors including fighting styles, grades and interpersonal relationships." The teachers then went on to state each match:

1. Kirishima & Sato vs Cementos
2. Asui & Tokoyami vs Ectoplasm
3. Ida & Ojiro vs Power Loader
4. Yayorozu & Todoroki vs Eraserhead
5. Uraraka & Aoyama vs Thirteen
6. Ashido & Kaminari vs Nezu
7. Koda & Jiro vs Present Mic
8. Maki & Shoji vs Snipe
9. Sero & Mineta vs Midnight
10. Midoriya & Bakugo vs All Might

"To complete the exam you will have 30 minutes." Nezu explained "In order to win, your objective is to put these handcuffs on your teacher or you can win if one of you manages to escape from the combat stage."
"So we either have to capture the teacher or run away, it's basically like the combat training." Kaminari summarised
"Yeah but is it really okay to just jet?" Ashido asked
"Yep" Nezu reassured
They were then told the teachers would be giving the students an advantage by wearing high density weights on their arms and legs.
