Training Camp: Day 3
The next day they were continuing training. The previous day had ended with them having to make their own food and the ones that failed the final exams getting extra lessons. Aizawa was moving around each student, analysing if their training and effort was up to his standards. The remedial group immediately caught his attention as they were practically falling asleep.
"Remedial class, keep at it!" He barked, using his capture scarf to roughly yank Kirshima to his feet.
"Yes, sir" the boy said strained.
"Sorry, but I need more beauty rest." Ashido said her speech slurred from exhaustion.
"Who knew yesterday's extra lessons..."
"...would go on until two in the morning..."
"...and start back up at seven!" Kaminari, Sero and Sato complained one after the other, unfortunately for them, Aizawa was having none of it.
"I told you it would be though. Remember, you're not just improving your quirks, you're also working to overcome the many weaknesses I saw in the finals." His harsh rebuttal made them flinch, "Think carefully about why you're more tired than the others before you start whining. You have much to improve here."
"Right, yes sir!" They acknowledged in unison before their turned his attention to some other students.
"Uraraka, Aoyama, same goes for you! Your team didn't fail but you were very close. I'd say you passed the proverbial finish line by only a hair." This caused them to flinch, finally her turned his attention to all the students that were bellow him.
"Don't loose focus, each of you can move faster and no matter what you're doing, just remember where you started from. Don't forget who you were before UA. Always keep in mind why you're sweating and why you're limits keep getting tested, that's what it means to improve." This seemed to motivate some of the students to go harder. For Maki on the other hand, it made her stop and walk away from what she was doing. She walked towards Midoriya who had made his way towards Aizawa, he had jumped down from his perch and reminded him to stay focused and reminded him that the location was a complete secret, which is why All Might wasn't there."Midoriya, Mr Aizawa, I have suggestion to make!" She yelled in their direction as she strode towards them.
"Maki, didn't you hear what I just said?" Aizawa asked irritated,
"I did, that's why I'm here." She said "I don't think what Midoriya's doing is gonna have enough results at the end of the camp, so I have suggestion of something else me and him could do."
"And what might that be?" Aizawa asked, curious.
"I'm gonna have Midoriya spar with me. He'll be fighting with his quirk and I'll be fighting with this!" She said, pulling out the Playful Cloud from behind her back. Midoriya shivered at the implication, he distinctly remembered how much damage that weapon did at the Sports Festival.
"W-w-why am I fighting against you using t-that?!" He squeaked, terrified.
"You remember how it works right?" Maki asked him, refreshing his memory at her explanation at the Sports Festival.
"Right, instead having a specific quirk, you said it was pure destructive power that reflected the user's physical strength. That would means it's basically your raw physical strength enhanced-" Midoriya began recapping, quickly falling into one of his infamous mumbling rants.
"Yes it is." Maki said, ending the rant before it got out of hand, "So, if you can fair against me using this, then I'll say you quirk will have improved pretty well. In fact, if you do really well, I might teach you how to use it."
"You can?!" Midoriya exclaimed in surprise.
"Yeah, but only if you impress me, I'm very strict." She replied before turning back to their teacher, "How does that sound, sir?"
"Do whatever you want." He said, turning on his heel and walking away.
"Alright then Midoriya, en guard." Maki said, getting into a fighting stance. Midoriya responded in kind, readying his quirk before they charged at each other.——————————————
Maki ended up sending Midoriya flying most of the time, even when he did try to block her attacks. Large Midoriya shaped craters and holes could now be seen around the training areas. The only positive was that Midoriya was starting to adapt more to her attack pattern and the ways she could manoeuvre the three sectioned staff. It was only a small positive in Maki's, however.
Now, they'd all had dinner and where now preparing for a test of courage at night. Most of Maki's peers were very excited for this. Maki wasn't for some research she just couldn't put her finger on, she had this weird feeling that something was going to happen all day. She'd ignored it during training but now it had gotten worse and it was getting harder for her to ignore. After the remedial class had been dragged off to extra lessons by Aizawa, Class A was assigned into pairs and Class B went into the forest to be the scarers. Maki was paired up with Jiro and they were now wandering cautiously through the forest, Jiro because she wasn't sure when a member of Class B was going to pop out to scare them, Maki because the feeling was getting stronger to the point where Jiro began to notice her friend's odd behaviour.
"Maki, is everything alright?" She asked,
"I don't know... I... I just a terrible feeling." She answered, looking around her on high alert.
"What is it telling you?" Jiro inquired more.
"That something bad is gonna happen." Maki cautiously answered.
"Are you sure?"
"No, but I've been getting this feeling all day and now it's a lot stronger." Before Jiro could say anything else, both of them started coughing and struggled to breath. Maki could see a weird purple gas starting to fill the area and she could smell something burning.
'Guess this is what was gonna happen.' She thought as she put her hand over her mouth and nose, she knew better than to say it out loud otherwise she might breathe more of the gas in.
'Everyone!' She heard in her head, it was Mandalay's telepathy. 'Two villain's attacked us, it highly possible there are more in the area. Everyone return to camp immediately, do not engage any enemies!"
'I'll engage if I have to, right now I need to get Jiro to safety and away from the gas!' Maki thought as she sling a now unconscious Jiro on her back and ran as fast as she could away from the gas filled areas.
