Her estimation was very wrong. The rest of her class arrived five hours after her, they were in a worse state than she was when she arrived. They were covered head to toe in dirt, looked exhausted and sick and were either dragging their feet or leaning on someone else.
"You guys took a lot longer than I expected." Maki admitted.
"How did you get here before us?" Kirishima asked weakly.
"I avoided the earth beasts all together and went through the trees above them." She answered.
"Why didn't you tell us that?" Ashido all but whined.
"You wouldn't have listened even if I did try to tell you." She said, causing her exhausted peers to groan.
"You said it would be, like, three hours!" Sero complained to the Pussycats.
"I guess we timed it based on how long it'd take us. Sorry!" Mandalay apologised.
"Now you're braggin' about how much better you are? That's so mean!" Sato also complained.
Pixie-bob then started talking about how great the boys did and started making advances on them, making them uncomfortable.
"Mandalay, has she always been like this?" Aizawa asked, exasperated.
"It's gotten worse lately. She's at the age to take a mate." Mandalay explained. Midoriya then asked the question that had probably been on everyone's minds, who the small boy was. Mandalay said his name was Kota and that he was her cousin's son, when Midoriya made the mistake of introducing himself to the boys he was met with a fist to his genital area.
'I'm now glad I ignored him when I got here!' Maki thought in shock. When Ida yelled at him, furious at what he did to his friend, Kota responded that he didn't want to hang around with "wannabe heroes".
"The brat's got spunk." Bakugo commented with a weird smile on his face, however he quickly became his usual angry self again when Todoroki commented that Kota was like a mini version of him.
"Enough playing around!" Aizawa said, catching his student's attention, "Get your stuff off the bus. Once your bags are in your rooms, we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that you can bathe and sleep. Tomorrow your training starts in earnest, you'd better get a move on."——————————————
Maki was now bathing in the hot springs to join the other girls. They were admiring how muscular she was compared to them but they were also asking about how she got some of the scars on her body. Maki just responded they were either from training injuries or from abuse she suffered when she was still a member of the Zenin clan.
"Why did they even treat so badly in the first place?" Asui asked.
"It's simple really," Maki replied "In the Zenin clan power is everything but only through strong quirks. If you're not born with a strong quirk or no quirk at all you bring shame on the clan. It doesn't matter how strong you are in other means."
"So if you were born with a quirk things would be different?" Momo asked.
"No it wouldn't." Maki said, leaving them shocked.
"WHAT WHY?!"
Before Maki could answer, they all heard Kota saying,
"Before you become a hero, you should learn how to be a good human." They looked up to see him slapping Mineta off the wall that separated the boys from the girls and back down to the boy's area.
"Mineta really is the worst, isn't he?" Asui stated
"Thanks so much, Kota babe!" Ashido said in appreciation "We owe you one!" Unfortunately, when he looked over at them, the sight of them naked caused him to faint and fall over the other side of the wall.
"Anyway, why wouldn't it make a difference?" Momo asked, getting back to their previous topic once they'd heard that Kota was okay.
"Because even you are born with a quirk, women aren't even allowed to train with them or become heroes." Maki explained, "The clan motto is the best way to visualise my situation: 'If you're not a Zenin, you're not a quirk user & if you're not a quirk user, you're not human.' Unfortunately for me, I happened to be both."
"HOW DARE THEY!!!" They all shouted in unison.
