It was now nearing the end of December, the days were getting colder and people were getting excited for Christmas. Since their official debuts, Todoroki and Bakugo had gained quite a lot of publicity. They had taken down the leader of a Villain group just half an hour after gaining their Provisional Licenses, after all. They had even recently been interviewed by the press. The boys ended up accidentally showcasing how untrained to the media they were. They didn't agree on most statements, with Bakugo being overly angry and rude to both his classmate and the reporters. So much so, that they cut all his footage from the full interview when it was released to the public.
"They were interviewed for an entire hour but all of Bakugo's answers were trashed!" Kaminari laughed hysterically, tears coming out like a fountain from his eyes as he held his phone out to show the interview to everyone.
"He's just an angry blip in the corner!" Sero added, laughing just as hard as his blonde classmate.
Bakugo was sat at his desk glaring at the phone, looking ready to explode at any second. His gritting teeth was audible even amidst all the laughter. "Why did they cut me out?!"
"Honestly, they kinda did him a big favour..." Uraraka said meekly. She had watched the full interview along with the rest of her class. Couldn't blame her for thinking that way.
"And he'd already done two interviews before this one." Momo commented to Jiro and Maki who were stood near her desk.
"So much for wracking up any good press over that throw down." Jiro added, twirling her earphone jacks around her fingers.Maki let out an amused sigh. Bakugo and Todoroki's interview wasn't the only thing on their minds. Nine days ago, Deika City had been completely reduced to rubble and it had taken at least twenty individuals to do it. Apparently the damage was far greater than that of the Kamino Ward Incident despite having fewer casualties due to the city's fairly small population. The reports that were covering it on the news were also showing society's response to the devastating event. There was absolutely no doubt in Maki's mind that the League of Villains was involved in this; Gojo had confirmed her suspicions. The thing what was surprising was that the civilians that were being interviewed all comment on giving the Heroes some slack and wanted them to do their best. Even their Hero critic, Aorio Kuraishisu, was discussing how in the past, an incident like this would result in all the Heroes being blamed, but now they were at a point in time when criticism were turning into encouragement. The sound of the door opening brought Maki out of her thoughts and back to the present.
"Not so fast kids!" A female voice declared, Mt Lady and Midnight strutted into the classroom moments later. "It may look like there's a renewal in love of Heroes but think about why. The world's on fire and everyone's scared. Are they cheering for Pro's they have ample faith in or are they praying desperately we don't get our butts kicked? Our job's been more about celebrity in past years, now the world wants to see real Heroes again!"
"Mt Lady!" Midoriya and Mineta gasped.
Moments later Aizawa shuffled into view outside the door in all his sleeping bag glory. "Mt Lady has dropped in as guest instructor. She'll teach you how to deal with publicity and Midnight's here to assist her." He explained in his usual tired, gravely voice.
The scene in front her made Maki deadpan.
Mt Lady was saying that Heroes were caught up in showbiz and shit. But wasn't she one of the most showbiz heroes out there?
Talk about hypocrisy.
"What publicity?!" Bakugo growled, gritting his teeth. "I keep getting cut!!"
"Maybe you'll do better after training!" Kirishima reassured his friend with a toothy grin.
"Today's lesson is Media 101..." Mt Lady explained. "...taught by an active Pro, an obscenely gorgeous hot commodity named me. The perfect person to show you how to behave like savvy Heroes."
"I have no idea what we're gonna be doing but let's do our best to go Plus Ultra, you guys!" Kirishima yelled at the front of the class, a fist raised in the air. A series of resounding 'yeah's erupted from his classmates.
