Stiles and Scott walk through the river, and I raise a brow. I carefully step onto the rocks and over the river. "I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball," Scott starts. "And that's not the only weird thing. I can hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things."

"Smell things? Like what?" Stiles asks.

"Like Mint Mojito gum in your pocket," Scott responds.

"I don't even have any Mint Mojito...," Stiles starts as he reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a piece of Mint Mojito gum.

"Or the mango shampoo you used," Scott adds as he looks over at me.

"How did you know— I showered this morning. There's no way you can smell that anymore," I comment.

"Except for the part where I can."

"So all this started with the bite," Stiles says.

"What if it's like an infection, like my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?" Scott suggests.

"You know what? I actually think I've heard of this. It's a specific kind of infection," Stiles admits.

Both Scott and I stop walking and look back at him. "Are you serious?" Scott asks.

"Yeah. Yeah, I think it's called lycanthropy," Stiles nods.

"What's that? Is that bad?"

I scoff and roll my eyes.

Jesus Christ, Scott.

"Oh, yeah, it's the worst. But only once a month," Stiles shrugs.

Scott's brows furrow. "Once a month?"

"Mhm. On the night of the full moon," Stiles nods again before howling. Scott rolls his eyes and shoves Stiles in the chest before he keeps walking. "Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling."

"Hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me," Scott points out.

"I know! You're a werewolf," Stiles exclaims before growling. We both glare at him. "Okay, obviously I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it's 'cause Friday's a full moon."

Scott stops walking and looks down at the ground. "No, I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running, I dropped my inhaler." Scott kneels and starts picking through the grass.

"Maybe the killer moved the body," Stiles suggests.

"If he did, I hope he left Scott's inhaler. Those things are like 80 bucks," I comment.

From the corner of my eye, I see a figure standing a few feet away from us. I look over to see a dark-haired guy watching us. Stiles smacks Scott's shoulder, and Scott looks over before standing up.

He walks toward us and speaks. "What are you doing here?" Neither of them respond. "Huh? This is private property."

I raise a brow and walk toward him. He expression shifts slightly when I approach him. "We didn't know it was private property. We were just looking for my brother's inhaler. I don't know if you know, but they're expensive," I state. He's quiet, and I tilt my head at him. "You happen to see it around? Maybe you picked it up?" He reaches into his pocket and tosses it toward me. I catch it before smirking. "Thanks. We'll be going now." I walk back over to Scott and Stiles and hand Scott the inhaler. "You're welcome."

"Dude, that was Derek Hale. You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us," Stiles says.

"Remember what?" I ask.

"His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, 10 years ago," Stiles responds.

My expression softens, and I glance back to see that he's already gone.

"I wonder what he's doing back," Scott comments.

Stiles scoffs before shrugging. "Come on."
