As I'm sitting at the kitchen table and drawing in my sketchbook, I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. I look up to see Scott walking in. "Morning," Scott greets me and Mom.

"Morning," Mom greets back. Scott walks over to the fridge and opens it. "Where were you this morning? I went to wake you up and you were gone."

"Uh... I went on a morning run," Scott responds.

"A run?" I question as I look up at him.

"Yeah. I'm-- I'm trying to get into shape for lacrosse," Scott nods.

"Right."

"What are you drawing?" Scott asks as he peers over my shoulder.

"Nothing," I lie as I slam my book closed. I finish my glass of orange juice before putting the glass in the sink. I grab my sketchbook and disappear upstairs.

Once I'm in my room, I shut my door and fall back on my bed.

Ever since last night, I haven't been able to get my mind off Derek.

There was just... something about him. Something intriguing. Something mysterious. Something... unforgettable.

Okay, I admit. I might have a little crush on the mysterious guy in the woods. God, I feel like a teenager again.

My phone buzzes, and I pick it up. I answer the call without looking at the number. "Hello?"

"We might have a problem," Stiles states.

My brows furrow. "Stiles?" I pull my phone away to look at the contact. "How did you get my number?"

"That's not important. What's important is that tonight is a full moon," he admits.

"So?" I shrug.

"So, your brother is gonna turn into a bloodthirsty, violent werewolf!" he exclaims.

I roll my eyes. "Jesus, Stiles. You're still on that?"

"Listen to me. I heard my dad on the phone, and the fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods," he starts.

"What animal?" I ask.

"It was a wolf."

My brows raise. "Okay... That-- That is a little weird."

"And that's not all. I saw Scott play on the field today. He was faster than the other than players. He was stronger than the other players. He was more agile than the other players. People can't just do that overnight."

"Okay, I'm listening," I nod.

"I started researching werewolves and anything I could find out about them. I called Scott to come over and told him he couldn't go out with Allison tonight because of the full moon. I read that the change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse. When I tried to cancel it for him, he got angry, like really angry. He knocked over my chair and left, but when I picked my chair up... there were claw marks on the back," he explains making my eyes widen.

"M-Maybe the marks were already there," I suggest.

"No, Cassie, they weren't. Scott's gonna turn into a werewolf tonight, and he's gonna wind up hurting someone."

"Okay. Okay, I'll go to the party with you and keep an eye on him," I give in.

"You will?"

"Yeah. I don't know what else to do. I'm not gonna try and bring him home. That's embarrassing, which could cause him to get angry, and if you're right, then, we want to avoid making him angry," I sigh.

"Right. Yeah. Want me to pick you up?"

I snort. "No. I can drive myself."
