Meanwhile, at Amber’s party everyone had just finished dancing to Pause and we’re having a great time. Amber was just getting herself a drink of water from her personalised water bottle as Kevin, Joel, Leon and Travis walked in the side gate.

Travis felt the most uncomfortable being there without an invitation and scratched his neck nervously as he saw Ashleigh and blushed.

‘Kevin? What are you boys doing here?’ Amber asked.

‘Hey, woah woah...’ Kevin replied putting up his hands defensively. ‘We were just in the neighbourhood. A little birdy tells me it’s your birthday today, so we just wanted to pay our respects and wish you many happy returns!’

‘Are you sure that’s all?’ Amber grinned smugly.

‘Well, we are a little hurt that you never invited us to your birthday party. Especially when we’ve been having such fun hanging out and rehearsing for the flash mob the past couple of weeks!’ Kevin replied.

‘Yeah!’ Joel added.

‘I thought we were your friends!’ Leon added.

Amber sighed. ‘Because I know you boys. You’re too competitive and want to make this a competition, when I just want people to dance and have fun, no matter their skill level.’

‘Cool, you mean like a dance off?’ Nino said on the microphone as he overheard their conversation.

Marinette and the others started getting excited as Nino played “Dance Off” by Macklemore on his deejay equipment.

Mylene, Ivan, Rose and everyone start chanting ‘Dance off! Dance off! Dance off!’ as Amber rolls her eyes.

But Ashleigh, Arrietty and Stacey came up to her.

‘Hey, if you’re all for this we’re in!’ Arrietty grinned.

‘For sure!’ Stacey added.

‘Dancers stick together!’ Ashleigh smiled, as Amber nodded and smiled back.

‘What’ll it be birthday girl?’ Kevin asked. ‘Us four against you four. Four dances each, taking turns. Birthday girl’s group goes first. The rest of the guests can vote out of 10 for each dance. If you win, we leave. If we win, we stay. Whatcha say?’

Amber smiled and nodded to the girls. ‘You got yourself a deal Kevin!’ she said as they shook on it and the guests cheered and whooped.

Travis’s and Ashleigh’s eyes meet as they both blush like crazy.

Nino finishes playing “Dance Off” while the guy and girl groups convene separately to decide which dances they’re going to do.

The guests were all given paper and thick markers to write down their scores as Markov said he would tally them all up.
